A Tesla Cybertruck owner shares that he has driven his truck for 50,000 miles and that it’s been the most reliable vehicle he's ever owned.
Ironically, the Cybertruck owner works as an environmental compliance tester, inspecting gas stations and similar facilities for leaks and other environmental concerns.
However, his vehicle of choice for his job assessing gas stations is his all-electric Cybertruck.
Because of his work, the Cybertruck owner drives quite a bit each day—more than 100 miles—and also carries over 1,000 pounds of equipment.
Despite these long drives and heavy gear, he praises his electric truck as the most dependable vehicle he's ever had.
He shares that he previously drove trucks from Ford, Chevy, and GMC, and after around 50,000 miles, he faced costly transmission repairs on all of them.
However, with his Cybertruck, everything has been smooth sailing.
The satisfied Cybertruck owner shared his experience on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum.
He writes…
“Well, I reached 50,000 miles in my Cybertruck today. The warranty is gone, and now I feel like I'm in a starship heading to Mars, alone and unsure of when something might fail.
It's okay, though; this truck has been more reliable than any other truck I've owned.
Driving over 100 miles a day for work, using every feature, and carrying 1,000 pounds of equipment daily for environmental compliance testing, construction, towing, camping, and off-roading.
By now, the Chevy, GMC, and Ford trucks I've owned needed major repairs; transmissions were the worst, and daily driving costs were high. That sucked compared to the cost of my Cybertruck.
So far, everything seems to be going very well. However, the Cybertruck owner notes that, since the Cybertruck is a battery electric vehicle, unlike his previous internal combustion trucks, he has discovered even more unexpected benefits.
He adds that when he goes camping, he brings solar-powered generators to the campsite and uses the sun to power both the campsite and his vehicle.
He continues to write…
“With my two Jackery 2000 Plus Explorer solar generators and 1600 watts of solar panels, remote adventures are worry-free during camping for days.
No sound, no fuel, no extra cost- just 240 V, 28 amps pushing electrons into the truck.”
The Cybertruck owner adds that, so far, the only drawback to owning the all-electric vehicle is how divisive it has become and the negative political attention it attracts.
He writes…
“It's been an exciting, fun, and politically charged adventure. Those people suck. It was like being around a bunch of monkeys who only have one feeling: hate.”
However, as the political tension around Tesla eases, he mentions he’s beginning to enjoy the vehicle.
He continues…
Now that the political shenanigans have settled down a bit, I'm back to enjoying my daily drive along the coast, through the Central Valley, and in the Sierra Nevada while FSD takes over, just relaxing.
There's much more to say, but someone else already said it.”
Below his post, the Cybertruck owner included several pictures. The pictures show his Cybertruck parked at a gas station loaded with environmental compliance testing equipment.
Overall, this Cybertruck owner appears happy driving his truck for work every day. However, please let me know what you think in the comments.

I call BS. I own a 2000 F-250 with 242K miles on it. Purchased it 18 years ago with 128K miles on it. It has a 5.4ltr gas engine and a 5spd Manual transmission. At the time I traded another F-250 with a salvage title and a 100K mile BMW 740 that needed a transmission plus $1,000 in cash.
Still pulls all three of my trailers with ease.
I’ve spent NOTHING on this truck other than maintenance. Brakes, clutch, tires and not much else. I’d keep this for ever rather than lower myself with a musk mobile. DON’T BELIEVE THE HYPE!

I call bull! I've owned all of those other trucks and put at least 200,000 miles on all of them without significant repairs - and all repairs happened after 120,000 miles. I also have a friend with a cyber truck, it has terrible towing range.

I certainty won't argue with his experience or his appraisal of the truck, but I just can't get used to its looks. One thing's for sure: in this era of vehicles that all look the same, when you spot a Cybertruck, there's absolutely no doubt about what you're looking at.

This guy must be doing something wrong with the other pickups he has had. My last 3 were all Chevy pickups. Bought a new Z71 Chevrolet in the fall of 2007. Kept it till I bought a new 2012 Z-71GMC. Now I have a 2016 Chevy Colorado 4x4. The 2008 went 176,000 miles with the only thing breaking was the window roller button on the front passenger door. The 2012 model went 188,000 miles . Replaced the A/C compressor and the fuel pump. Now my 2016 Colorado has 136,000 miles on it and have only replaced the screen for the information screen and cruise control switch. Only other work on them were just normal services. I have owned in my 75 years probably about 12 Chevy-GMC pickups and never had any engine or transmission problems. This guy must not be doing any service on his gas pickups

This person is a bit delusional, 50,000miles? Wow! My Chevy 2500 was just barely getting broke in. I have been towing a 38' fifth wheel for years to our usual campsite in Colorado. No problems at all...hmm, you need to reevaluate your position.

I highly doubt all 3 of the other truck makers @ 50k miles would have major problems, okay maybe a chevy 😉. I'd ask to see receipts for these bogus claims.
For starters the aesthetics of that eyesore alone should of kept that thing from being built. I've owned several f150s starting in 77' and never looked back. Each at a minimum had 200k on them and my last older one had 328k miles. I get a range of 740 miles when not towing my camper on my current one and about 400 while towing. The junk heap he drives might get 325 miles. I can work AND find parts if need be, cheaper and easier too.
musk has a few things going for him but it's not that "truck".
I'll keep my F150 XLT 4x4 thanks.

Look, monkeys is accurate. It’s a reference it IQ not race. And if you took issue with the story, congrats, you’re a monkey!
Objectively, the Cybertruck has had some recalls, but so did the esteemed Tundra… one was software and trim, the other was an 40 hour engine repair. (And I love Toyota). Both suffered trade in loss as a result. Don’t get me started on domestic trucks. Yes, there are some of you who’ve had good experiences. Congrats. I too have owned them, as have friends, family, and associates. Be real here. Stats don’t lie. Domestic trucks, (while durable, and powerful in the HD trim), are NOT statistically reliable. Toyota was… My 07 Tundra, zero work done, still great trade in value. Best of 30 vehicles I’ve ever owned. Dodge? Please… I see the ‘D’ and deduct a few IQ points and look for truck nuts. And I have a built Jeep. Chrysler products are total garbage. Sure that diesel will pull 25k lbs … to the end of the block before it needs a new transmission or rear end. And that diesel will go 300k mile, but the rest of the truck will have fallen off by then. Ford… Fix Or Repair Daily is a meme for a reason. That said, the “F-150” specifically is #1 for a reason. Value. It’s not perfect, but the cost benefit is real. GMC/Chevy has always had one thing going for it. Sex appeal. They built a nice looking truck. And they improved the product quality in the early 2010s, but today, warranty issues especially on the high end units are very high, and that sucks for a $100k truck. The worst part isn’t repairs on these. It’s the companies and their poor service. Dealerships universally suck. Own domestic, learn to turn a wrench and enjoy it.
The CT is electric, but so is the Rivian, Lightening, and new Sierra. EV shortcomings apply to all. The CT is also polarizing due to Musk, enough said about that…
Subjectively, Cybertruck is unattractive. But so is the Rivian and new Sierra EV to many… Ford is the only one that did it right. Personally I take issue with the term “truck” on all of these. As it implies certain things, like purposeful towing, ruggedness, payload, and utilitarian nature. None of these are that anymore than the Mach-E is a Mustang sports car. Don’t be lazy execs. Create a new class of vehicles. The CT is more of a rover/crossover/dumpster (jk, love/hate the looks). And the Sierra is an Avalanche reincarnated.
Now, if you haven’t driven one of these, I suggest you do vs. armchair quarterbacking. The CT is a very unique experience. You’ll feel like Han Solo as the middle fingers turn into blurs, and secretly want one. It genuinely is fun. But, it’s also not attractive and monkey will throw poo. Tesla will give you one for two days. The Rivian is awesome if you want a $90k electric Tacoma. It’s fast, capable off road, and has Benz like interior. But, don’t get a dent in it $$$. And the Sierra, not much I can say. It nice, expensive, and looks like the Avalanche… I like it. Others don’t (wife).
If you want to go off-road get a Rivian. If you want to blend in get a Lightening. If you want to look wealthy get the Sierra EV. If you don’t care about these things get a Cybertruck, it does have the best tech. And if you want to do truck things get a 3/4 ton+ truck, eat the repairs, and stop comparing.
The one truth about this is that CT owners don’t deserve the hate. If it fits their aesthetic, utility, and budget, good for them. If you feel inclined to flag them or vandalize their property, you’re a monkey (i.e. of low IQ, not race, i.e. ape, i.e. inferior genetics, evolution, your mom…).
