A Tesla Cybertruck owner shares that he has driven his truck for 50,000 miles and that it’s been the most reliable vehicle he's ever owned.

Ironically, the Cybertruck owner works as an environmental compliance tester, inspecting gas stations and similar facilities for leaks and other environmental concerns.

However, his vehicle of choice for his job assessing gas stations is his all-electric Cybertruck.

Because of his work, the Cybertruck owner drives quite a bit each day—more than 100 miles—and also carries over 1,000 pounds of equipment.

Despite these long drives and heavy gear, he praises his electric truck as the most dependable vehicle he's ever had.

He shares that he previously drove trucks from Ford, Chevy, and GMC, and after around 50,000 miles, he faced costly transmission repairs on all of them.

However, with his Cybertruck, everything has been smooth sailing.

The satisfied Cybertruck owner shared his experience on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum.

He writes…

“Well, I reached 50,000 miles in my Cybertruck today. The warranty is gone, and now I feel like I'm in a starship heading to Mars, alone and unsure of when something might fail.

It's okay, though; this truck has been more reliable than any other truck I've owned.

Driving over 100 miles a day for work, using every feature, and carrying 1,000 pounds of equipment daily for environmental compliance testing, construction, towing, camping, and off-roading.

By now, the Chevy, GMC, and Ford trucks I've owned needed major repairs; transmissions were the worst, and daily driving costs were high. That sucked compared to the cost of my Cybertruck.

So far, everything seems to be going very well. However, the Cybertruck owner notes that, since the Cybertruck is a battery electric vehicle, unlike his previous internal combustion trucks, he has discovered even more unexpected benefits.

He adds that when he goes camping, he brings solar-powered generators to the campsite and uses the sun to power both the campsite and his vehicle.

He continues to write…

“With my two Jackery 2000 Plus Explorer solar generators and 1600 watts of solar panels, remote adventures are worry-free during camping for days.

No sound, no fuel, no extra cost- just 240 V, 28 amps pushing electrons into the truck.”

The Cybertruck owner adds that, so far, the only drawback to owning the all-electric vehicle is how divisive it has become and the negative political attention it attracts.

He writes…

“It's been an exciting, fun, and politically charged adventure. Those people suck. It was like being around a bunch of monkeys who only have one feeling: hate.”

However, as the political tension around Tesla eases, he mentions he’s beginning to enjoy the vehicle.

He continues…

Now that the political shenanigans have settled down a bit, I'm back to enjoying my daily drive along the coast, through the Central Valley, and in the Sierra Nevada while FSD takes over, just relaxing.

There's much more to say, but someone else already said it.”

Below his post, the Cybertruck owner included several pictures. The pictures show his Cybertruck parked at a gas station loaded with environmental compliance testing equipment.

Overall, this Cybertruck owner appears happy driving his truck for work every day. However, please let me know what you think in the comments.

Come on man....The Tesla truck looks like it was designed by a child on ketamine... The sharp lines and the wavy body panels are hideous. I don't want to be hate,r so if you like the looks I am happy for you. The LED lights dont get hot so snow and ice make them useless. The thin aluminum sub frame breaks off if you drop a load on hitch....Watch on Youtube... Its useless off road and if you get it stuck, then best wishes on getting someone to pull you out because of liability.....He is right quality of trucks over the last 5 years is really bad all brands thanks to terrible engineering...But if your transmission is failing in 50K there is obviously more to it than just wear. So what I do with a truck I cant do in a Tesla and I happen to like the sound of a V8. They cant sell them so there aught to be some great discounts.

Hogwash. For every happy so called “cybertruck” owner there are hundreds of underwhelmed or downright unhappy owners; plus those that have already dumped them. They should come painted dark green since they look like rolling dumpsters! Yes, I absolutely hate them. I don’t even see how they meet federal safety standards. It looks like it is homemade or a back yard science project. Their trade in value is abysmal. How do they qualify to even be called a truck? It appears tacked together, unfinished, ugly, and an eyesore. I apologize for offending owners, but can’t help myself. The EV version of the Edsel. Then again, car designs for electric vehicles are mostly terrible anyway except the Lucid or Rivian maybe. Just look at the Mach E too. Why is there no dramatic bold sports car look? Something akin to a Maybach or Lotus? Tesla appears to have taken some sheet metal and tack welded a metal box with wheels together and labeled it a “truck”… Enough blob SUV’s for that matter. Gone are the days when US manufacturers designed cars that are pieces of art save for a retro car or two. Enough with trying to make American cars look European for that matter. American car makers should stand out as industry leaders not followers! Who wants to drive computers on wheels anyway?

All I hear are LIES, LIES, LIES. The Cybertruck is the WORST vehicle for any job, it's not even street legal in most of the world.

I am personally not a fan of EV vehicles but that’s a personal choice. I just don’t want be forced to buy all electric. We own a 2013 Prius which is gas/electric. Unfortunately it sprang a leak snd overheated warping the head. We got nearly 250,000 miles on it. The electric side is still functional.

I don't believe him. He must be incompetent and abusive to the transmissions if there's a shred of truth. Ford and GM transmissions are extremely reliable, easily going 200,000 miles. He must be getting paid by Tesla to say this about their flop truck.

First of all that’s not a truck and if it is then where’s your snowplow, gull ing tool box, headache rack, gooseneck hitch, mudflaps (or can it even travel off-road?)
Definitely not a truck without a CB & whip antennas!

Dude has drank the coolaide. Transmission issues at 50k? I dunno how he drives but, I have had 6 trucks and none had severe issues until over 150k. Also, charging his truck with a portable solar set-up that's 1600 watts? 1) that's a 10ft by 8ft set up when built. 2) on a good day in the summer he will get less than a 10% charge. Bro, needs to stop lying to himself.

If you don't mind driving something so ugly you can't stand to look at it, be my guest. When I see them I feel sorry for the driver and sometimes just chuckle.

April Gonzalez (not verified)    November 25, 2025 - 8:19AM

As long as there is electricity, I guess it could be reliable. And I know you need less proceed to get gas out of the gas pump. But there is ways of getting gas, but without electricity, there's no way of moving those trucks that is just my opinion. I will stick with my Chevy truck. You can't go wrong with Chevy.

Bob (not verified)    November 25, 2025 - 8:40AM

Sure, sure, keep telling yourself that Because you know you bought the most useless truck ever made. Get back to me when it's gone a couple 1,000 hours on the same battery. If it still moves.

Dan (not verified)    November 25, 2025 - 8:54AM

50,000 is not even getting started. My 2012 Ram is at 300,000. The engine and transmission have never been worked on. The truck has never not gotten me to my destination. I tow a lot and don't baby the truck.

Larry (not verified)    November 25, 2025 - 9:45AM

“After 50000 miles all three, GMC, Ford and Chevy had costly transmission repairs”. I’m calling BS on that claim, I’m not buying it. Just doesn’t sound right, PLUS he “drives a lot”, so 50k miles should have happened before warranty's expired, therefore no cost.

Sounds like someone is really sucking off Elon. The day the cyber truck is more reliable than any of my ancient trucks before electronics became more of a mainstay in vehicles. Will be the day the world no longer runs on gasoline. Because I've heard the exact opposite from owners owning Cyber trucks, with many former owners preferring Rivians to Tesla as they're 100% more reliable. But hey I'll never be afford over priced Little Tykes truck that can't drive in sand so I'm completely okay with that lmao.

Not to mention as truck's entire build is more recyclable than the cybertruck and way better looking because it doesn't look like real life shitty ps1 graphics come to life.

Yeah!! Good for you! How can our fellow Americans be such idiots! We get horrible looks from people going by our place because we just installed more solar panels. Power from the sun, Folks!! How can we do better here??!?

robert stahlmann (not verified)    November 25, 2025 - 10:54AM

You are comparing American trucks that aren't reliable to begin with.compare it to Toyota which is the most reliable.

Regarding the Tesla truck owners bad luck with "other" gas powered pickups...mainly transmissions failing.
I have owned and driven F series pickups from Ford for 24 years. (3) from F-150 to F-350 and none ever had transmission problems. There is a Specification for a particular transmission in all vehicles in the owners manual. None of these specify a "one size fits all" OSFA type of transmission fluid. The quicker change oil places, when doing a tranny fluid change commonly used OSFA fluid from a 55 gal drum, dispensed into cars and trucks by a retractable hose from the ceiling. Most ppl go along with that since they don't know any better. In my trucks, I bought fluid which complied with MFG SPEC. I would take it to the shop and arrange to pay for the service only, not their fluid and would sit in their lounge area, watching thru the glass as the tech changed (pumped out the old) flushed and put in MY Spec fluid. You watch because given a chance, they'll put in the OSFAstuff from their drum. You don't have to buy the manufacturer s fluid of a famous name brand but you should use the right SPEC..Check manual and label on jug.I never had even a hiccup of tranny problems: in all, I changed the oil and filter myself every 5000 miles, one truck needed front struts, all three had brake pads done by me...that's it. Nothing else went wrong. Nearly all transmission problems bare caused by improper maintenance- letting a quickee lube place do it is no good. Proper maintenance and spec matching fluid is the way to go.

"Those people suck. It was like being around a bunch of monkeys who only have one feeling: hate."

Well, it doesn't seem like he's too burdened with his own balanced emotions. 😕

And how much did ol' Elon pay for this spot? My favorite thing about cyber trucks is that everyone, young or old flips em the bird so that all the chuds know what weiners they look driving em

D Wilson (not verified)    November 25, 2025 - 12:52PM

No thanks…UGLY! People really need to re-think the whole ev thing: you can kiss long road trips goodbye unless you can re-charge in the same time it takes to fill a gas tank, which obviously isnt going to happen.

Before I realized that The Boss's goals and motivations were not anything I could endorse, I used to love everything that comes out of his shop. Still think the tech and the innovation is next-level awesome, just can't feel the love I used to.

Noah (not verified)    November 25, 2025 - 1:47PM

50k miles is not nearly enough to determine reliability. I'm still driving my 07 Chevy 1500 with almost 300k on it and never broke open the engine or Trans or axles. Seeing as the cybertruck can't even go through a car wash I doubt it'll last that long. By chance if it lasts half as long as my Chevy it'll need a new battery which is half the cost of the car. On top of all that it looks like a garbage dumpster on wheels.
