Jack, a Cybertruck owner from California, reports that a large portion of his windshield completely detached from the frame while he was driving in scorching heat.

He explains that he traveled from California to Colorado and has been driving for three days with temperatures in the high 90s, and it appears the heat melted the glue holding the windshield to the truck's stainless steel frame.

Jack says that during the incident, he was driving in Colorado when he heard a loud pop from the front of his truck.

When he checked, he found a large piece of the windshield's rubber seal on the passenger side flapping in the wind.

This is definitely concerning, and Jack shared his experience on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum.

He writes…

“We just drove from the Bay Area to Denver in what I, as a coastal resident, would call blistering heat. Three days in the high 90s.

Yesterday, heading north on I-25 just south of Pueblo, CO, we were driving with FSD on Standard (speed limit 75), and we heard a loud bang up front.

I pulled over and got out to check the damage and found the right windshield seal flipping in the wind—about 18 inches of it.

The windshield was still attached above that. We checked the other side, and it was still attached but looked a little gummy.”

Jack added that not only was the windshield affected, but he also checked around the truck, and the glue seems to be failing in other places.

He writes…

“We checked the other seals just in case, and one of the tonneau seals was loose near the top.”

Jack also said he was worried that if he kept driving at the same speed, the windshield might completely come off.

So, he slowed down and drove to a local shop where he bought duct tape to hold the windshield in place so he could finish his trip.

He continues…

“Not knowing how this might affect the windshield, we dropped down to Chill and found some duct tape at a local store in Pueblo. We then set up an appointment at Tesla in Denver.”

Finally, Jack wraps up his post, asking…

“Has anyone else experienced this? Is it heat-related? How does the seal affect the windshield? Was duct tape even a viable Band-Aid?”

Below his post, Jack shared several pictures of his Cybertruck showing the windshield coming off the frame.

In the pictures, nearly 80 percent of the windshield appears detached from the frame, with the rubber seal sitting loose in the gap between the glass and the frame.

You can also see what appears to be dried white/grayish adhesive on the side of the windshield.

Additionally, Jack shared a photo of his Cybertruck’s windshield held together with silver duct tape.

This is definitely not ideal; however, looking at the comments, a lot of Cybertruck owners shared that they, too, have faced similar adhesive failures.

One owner said…

“It already happened to me. I had to apologize to the driver behind me after the 9-foot stainless steel cant-rail flew off and nearly hit him at highway speeds.”

Another owner added…

“Those with the new 'blue goo' structural adhesive shouldn’t suffer from panel adhesive issues. It was an assembly line running change made in 2025. The older structural adhesive was grey in color.”

Below his post, the Cybertruck owner included a picture of his truck showing the stainless steel fender dangling mid-air after the adhesive failed.

A third Cybertruck owner writes…

“I don’t know enough, but do other production cars use adhesives to reinforce panels?

My concern with age is that all adhesives eventually lose their stickiness. Or am I to be corrected?”

Overall, a lot of Cybertruck owners seem worried about the adhesive holding their trucks together. However, please let me know what you think in the comments.
