Now That The $60,000 Cybertruck Is Attracting A Lot Of Buyers, Current Cybertruck Owners Are Demanding That Tesla Treat The All-Electric Truck “Like A Fully Supported Vehicle”

Current Tesla Cybertruck owners hope that the success of the cheaper Cybertruck will benefit them directly. One owner says, “Now that the $60,000 Cybertruck is attracting real buyers, it’d be nice if Tesla treated the Cybertruck as a fully supported car."

Over the past year, Tesla has shifted its focus away from the Cybertruck due to low sales volume.

This is especially evident with over-the-air software updates, where the Cybertruck used to be the first to receive new features. However, as demand for the all-electric truck declined, Tesla’s interest in updating it also waned.

This makes sense, considering that the Model 3 sells hundreds of thousands of units annually, and the Model Y exceeds a million units sold each year.

If Tesla develops a new software feature, the company will likely prioritize optimizing it for its more popular vehicles rather than the Cybertruck, which sells around 25,000 units annually.

As a result, the Cybertruck has gradually fallen behind in certain features; for example, it does not include a free driver assist feature like Autopilot, which is available on the rest of Tesla’s lineup.

Even when it comes to full self-driving software updates, the Model Y and Model 3 get the latest features first, while the Cybertruck receives them later, or sometimes not at all, like with the Smart Summon feature.

However, with the recent launch of the $59,900 Cybertruck, which is experiencing huge demand (already sold out until 2027), current owners hope this will encourage Tesla to work on Cybertruck-specific features.

James Burrus, a Cybertruck owner from California, was among the first to express this hope.

He shared his thoughts on the Tesla Cybertruck Owners group on Facebook.

He wries…

“Now that the $60,000 Cybertruck has people actually buying it in real numbers, it’d be nice if Tesla started treating it like a fully supported vehicle.

Really hoping Tesla puts some focus on:

• Better parking support that actually accounts for the Cybertruck’s size

• Full, proper Summon/Smart Summon functionality for Cybertruck

Right now, it feels like the truck showed up to the party, but some of the core features didn’t.

The Cybertruck is too big a success to still feel like it’s missing basic Tesla conveniences.

Hopefully, this is high on the list for future updates.”

This request certainly seems reasonable; however, looking at the comments, fellow Cybertruck owners defended Tesla and their all-electric truck.

A fellow Cybertruck owner, Daniel Lawrence, argues that it’s not a big deal that the Cybertruck lacks basic Tesla features like Smart Summon, because Summon isn’t very impressive to begin with.

Daniel writes…

“Summon is… meh. I’ve used it a bit when we bought a 2026 Tesla Model X Plaid, and it’s slow.

By the time it starts coming to you, you could have already walked to the car. I wish it were faster by 2-3 mph.”

Another owner, Aaron Crawford, says that even though the Cybertruck lacks some features found in other Teslas, it’s still better than non-Tesla vehicles.

Aaron comments…

“Way ahead of the competition with much better support and constant updates to features.”

Yet another owner, Erik Moore, agrees, noting he does miss some features available on other Teslas but believes the Cybertruck still outperforms most vehicles even without full support.

Erik shares…

“Definitely missing smart summon. But, to me, the Cybertruck feels ahead of the rest of the vehicles.”

Overall, a lot of Cybertruck owners seem to believe that the all-electric truck is superior to other vehicles, even if it lacks some features found in other Teslas.

This is certainly an interesting perspective; however, please let me know what you think in the comments.
