RAV4 Hybrid was Toyota’s Best Seller in June, but 2nd Place is the Shocker

The Top 5 best-selling Toyota models (RAV4 was 1st) were not what I expected. Are you surprised?

The top selling SUV in the country is Toyota RAV4, so it should come as no surprise that RAV4 Hybrid stayed planted as the top hybrid in the Toyota lineup for June.

Coincidentally, the 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid also topped the first half of 2023 hybrid sales list as well.

How did the rest of the lineup do for June?

2023 Toyota Sienna

For me, it was a surprise that 2023 Sienna came in second place behind RAV4 Hybrid. RAV4 Hybrid sold 14,919 units compared to 6,418 with Sienna.

One of the most challenging vehicles to find and purchase is Toyota Sienna. This has been the case since the worldwide vehicle shortage began in what seems like a million years ago. To some, it feels virtually impossible to get a 2023 Sienna minivan.

Many customers have been waiting several months to a year for their chance to purchase one.

I guess I can see why too. I mean, Toyota Sienna is what I consider to be the ultimate family road trip vehicle.

Video: See what makes Sienna XSE so special.

Sienna has solid cargo and passenger room (in all three rows), it is smooth and quiet and comfortable, and it can drive reliably for well over a decade.

Plus, a 2023 Sienna can average 36 miles per gallon according to the window sticker.

Who wouldn’t want a Sienna?

And have I made my case yet.

2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Sales

2023 Toyota Hybrid June Sales

Here is the Top 5 list for June Toyota hybrid sales:

  • RAV4 Hybrid:         14,919
  • Sienna Hybrid:        6,418
  • Camry Hybrid:         4,386
  • Corolla Hybrid:        2,808
  • Highlander Hybrid: 2,650

2023 RAV4 Hybrid Won First Half

It is interesting that June hybrid sales results only slightly mirror the first half of 2023 sales. I might have expected more symmetry.

A 2023 RAV4 Hybrid sold 57,208 units, Highlander Hybrid was 33,422, Sienna Hybrid had 27,937, Corolla Hybrid sold 23,101 and Tundra Hybrid sold 14,280.

Camry Hybrid only placed 8th on that list, and I wondered then why it was so low. Perhaps because they have been so challenging to find as well. Same problem as RAV4 Hybrid and Sienna Hybrid. Looks like June prompted a big Camry comeback.

Great vehicle, horrid wait times!
After owning 4 Siennas before downsizing to a PriusV I’m not surprised that the Sienna is popular, especially now as a hybrid. I wonder what numbers would be like if Toyota could ramp up their production and make it easier to get a vehicle. I live in Ontario and ordered a Corolla Hybrid back in November and they haven’t even starting building it yet.

We waited 9 months for our Venza. So you’re probably in for more months of waiting. I love our car. It’s one of the coolest looking cars out there with a shark like looking front end. It’s like a Lexus without the Lexus price tag. We paid $45K before sales tax. Here in Colorado we’re being hammered by taxes and inflation. Dealers here in Colorado Springs we’re tacking on an additional $6,000 - non negotiable!! Needed to pay almost $5,000 in sales tax and a trip to DMV a few weeks after bringing the car home just to pay $900 more to the state for license plates. Next year plate renewal will drop about $50. Our taxes on our homes here in Colorado are doing what happened in Silicone Valley back in the 70’s and 80’s. People are close to being forced to sell their homes. Our property taxes in many cases have gone up nearly 100%!!

So driving a new car and living in Colorado is fast becoming too expensive. But getting back to the Venza, like I said, it’s a beauty of a car. We’re getting just over 40mpg! I love the full moonroof that has two modes. And the electric close it up is really nice. Then there’s another thing. Everyone has the RAV4. It’s cool to own a car which is owned by few!!! There’s bezillions of RV4s out there. Not many Venzas!!!

I ordered my 2022 Toyota Rav4 Limited hybrid May 20th, 2022..I received my 2023 Toyota Rav4 Limited hybrid May 19th, 2023…Almost a full year from date of order to time of delivery. I had been forewarned that the wait could be as long as 18 months.

Can you imagine that it's totally different in China. Toyota has to layoff 10% workers in Guangzhou as the sales goes down. And they have to provide discount to attract customers. Why can we not import cars from China?

Importing cars from China?
That will surely drop the price of cars for car buyers but will make US car manufacturers bleed.
Government is not on our side.
They help big companies.
If government were on our side, there wouldn't have been a trade war that drives prices up for almost everything!

2021 RAV4 PRIME XSE loaded paid MSRP hard to believe but was considered a deal at that price. First car I ever loved. Mainly on electric. Lifetime average 73mpg.

No mention is ever made of the power cable causing loss of power and radio static. Friend has been waiting for a fix going on 3 mo ths due to parts availability.

Only negative we have for our rav 4 hybrid
Is the seats are too hard! Plus no lumbar support for the passenger seat. We are thinking of selling it because of that reason

We are original owners of a 2008 Prius. Currently have over 250,000 miles on it. We're still getting over 50 mpg. Minimal upkeep. Love it!
Bought a 2023 RAV4 hybrid after waiting 7+ months. Picked it up the end of Jan. Got 50 mpg last tank but usually get above 45 mpg. Wow! Very impressive. Both vehicles seem to love the mountains as much as we do!

I waited 54 weeks for my Rav4 XSE Prime Premium loaded to the top to be delivered after ordering it! It has been the best one of the 6 other Ravs I have owned. I would like too know how many XSE’s are in the country and the demand for this great vehicle. I have gone 58 miles in ev mode!
