This full three-row SUV has more cargo space and passenger space than Toyota Highlander. It is also smooth, quiet, and comfortable to drive. Grand Highlander is loaded with technology, features, and multimedia capabilities.

And you get to decide between three different trim levels and three different engine choices.

But how do you know what engine configuration to choose?

2024 Grand Highlander Trim Levels

If you are a Toyota fan, you should already be fairly familiar with the three available grades. Buyers can choose from XLE, Limited, and Platinum.

Are you more comfortable buying a gasoline-only, a hybrid, or a Hybrid MAX? Those are your three engine options.

The gasoline Grand Highlander version is a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This is matched with a direct shift 8-speed automatic transmission. It is offered in both front-wheel drive and dynamic torque control all-wheel drive.

Grand Highlander Hybrid consists of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with electric motor power. Look for an electronically-controlled continuous variable transmission and electronic on-demand all-wheel drive.

Hybrid MAX utilizes the 2.4-liter turbo four-cylinder along with electric motor power. Grand Highlander Hybrid MAX engine is matched up with a direct shift 6-speed automatic transmission and features standard full-time electronic all-wheel drive.

I would on the platinum hybrid max in a heartbeat if it was available with the second row bench seat. If only Toyota (and a bunch of other manufacturers) would learn to offer that flexibility to somebody with three kids to fit in the second row.
