GMC Will Reveal the 2024 GMC Sierra Denali EV on October 20, 2022

It is one of the most anticipated new EV pickup trucks. GMC just announced we will finally see the GMC Sierra Denali EV at 5pm on Thursday.

GM Chair and CEO Mary Barra tweeted out “Stay tuned for an electrifying grand entrance”. We will finally see the entire 2024 GMC Sierra Denali EV on October 20, 2022. GMC has revealed very few details about the truck since revealing the front end last December. We can see a few more details in the tease video CEO Barra and GMC shared. GMC says “Meet the Denali of EVs, towering above your expectations of an electric truck”.

2024 GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1

It appears the version we will see first is the GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1. GMC did the same thing with the 2022 HUMMER EV. The Edition 1 typically comes fully loaded and at a higher price. The limited editions usually require reservations and sell out quite quickly. If you watch the video closely, the tiny print at the bottom in the video says “Simulated model shown throughout with available features. Actual production model may vary. Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 available early 2024, by reservation only. Sierra EV Denali available spring of 2024”. So the Edition 1 will arrive first and then there will be the regular Sierra EV Denali. GMC does not call the truck a 2024 model, but that is when it will be available.

GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado Pickups

GMC trucks are often twins to Chevrolet vehicles but with more luxurious appointments. For example, the GMC Sierra had the MultiPro tailgate for years before finally sharing the technology with the Chevrolet Silverado. The two pickups share the same platform and underpinnings. The electric Sierra will be built on GM’s new Ultium battery platform and will be built in the same plant as the Silverado EV. The Silverado EV is expected to go about 400 miles on a charge and will have a full glass roof. No information was released about The GMC Sierra EV’s potential range or other specifications. Those details should come on Thursday. Chevrolet is already doing lots of street and real world testing on the Silverado EV. The EV trucks have been spotted driving around downtown Detroit, as well as in the mountains out west doing high altitude testing.

GMC says that everyone can watch the reveal on its website. We’ll be watching and have specifics for you when they are available! Anyone who is seriously interested in owning one of the Edition 1s should be prepared to make a reservation, if the orders open Thursday.
