Hard to believe but the GMC HUMMER models are turning 25. To celebrate that legacy, GMC is unveiling a special HUMMER EV ICON 25 limited edition. The massive EVs are making their debuts at the ESPYs in New York City. The Icon 25 will be available in a throwback yellow to honor the HUMMER H2 model from 25 years ago. If yellow is a little too flashy, the 2027 HUMMERS will also be available in Dark Ridge, Azurite Blue, Dark Ember and Deep Void Matte.
“Twenty-five years ago, HUMMER first captured attention and established itself as an immediate icon. Today, HUMMER remains instantly recognizable as an all-electric supertruck that continues to turn heads,” said Michael MacPhee, Global Vice President, Buick and GMC. “The GMC HUMMER EV ICON 25 is our way of recognizing that legacy and its debut at the 2026 ESPYs places it among athletes, celebrities and icons whose influence has also stood the test of time.”
2027 GMC HUMMER Pickup and SUV
From the moment it was introduced 25 years ago, the HUMMER has been immediately recognizable. The limited editions will have serialized badging on the instrument panel to distinguish each vehicle as one of a limited run. Unique infotainment graphics in the drive mode section will reference HUMMER heritage models. Each GMC HUMMER EV ICON 25 will also include an exclusive keepsake, celebrating 25 years of HUMMER and the exclusivity of this limited-edition vehicle. The GMC HUMMER EV ICON 25 package will be available on 2X and 3X trims of the Pickup and SUV.
Premium Design and Unmatched Capability
There is nothing quite like a HUMMER. Besides being huge and heavy, the 2027 GMC HUMMER EV continues to push boundaries with advanced capability and cutting-edge innovation. The HUMMER models were first to debut the 4-Wheel Steer with CrabWalk and King Crab, as well as an Air Ride Adaptive suspension and Extract Mode, which can raise the vehicle approximately 6 inches to help clear off-road obstacles. I still find those features absolutely amazing, especially because the HUMMERs are so heavy. Seeing them move at a 45 degree angle is awe-inspiring. GM has put those features on its other EV trucks but it is still incredible to stand there and watch the HUMMER execute those maneuvers.
All 2027 GMC HUMMER EV models will be equipped with the North American Charging Standard (NACS) technology and will continue to offer available vehicle-to-home bidirectional charging. A HUMMER has to be equipped with the V2H technology to help provide power to a properly equipped home during an outage. Not only does the vehicle have to have the right package but the home also must have the GM Energy PowerShift Charger and GM Energy V2H Enablement Kit.
In addition, the 2027 GMC HUMMER EV will continue to offer key customer tech features, including available Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance technology, the signature Infinity Roof with removable Sky Panels, and up to 18 camera views available on the Pickup.
The 2027 GMC HUMMER EV 3X Pickup will offer extraordinary performance with up to 1,160 horsepower and an astonishing 13,000 lb.-ft of torque. When properly equipped with the 24-module battery, the supertruck can do 0-60 mph in as little as 2.8 seconds.
2027 GMC HUMMER ICON 25 Will be Available Later This Year
Production of the 2027 GMC HUMMER EV and ICON 25 will begin later this year at GM’s Factory ZERO Assembly Center in Detroit and Hamtramck, Michigan. The 2027 GMC HUMMER EV and ICON 25 will be sold in the U.S. and Canada. Pricing and additional information on the ICON 25 will be announced closer to production.
