While Toyota is still one of the prime choices when it comes to buying dependable vehicles, it seems the brand can get away with more than most. Or at least, that’s what some owner testimonies may lead you to believe. An owner’s question on the Facebook group, Toyota Sienna 2025+ is sparking discussion among drivers of the minivan, highlighting how even small details can create big confusion when it comes to vehicle features. I feel like some clarification is in order.

Here’s what this 2026 Toyota Sienna XSE says:

“Questions for XSE.

Anyone who has turn signals on the side mirrors on the original 2026 XSE from the dealer or has asked and received it? Is it standard equipment?

I do not have them.”

With many dealers engaging in unethical practices, it is easy for a few bad apples to spoil the bunch. It is also easy to think that a dealer may try to sell you a more affordable trim for a higher price, for more profit, but this might not be the dealer’s fault.

The owner’s question wasn’t hypothetical. He noted that their own vehicle does not have turn signals integrated into the side mirrors, prompting concerns about whether something was missing or if specifications vary by build. This type of uncertainty is increasingly common as manufacturers adjust features based on trim levels, production dates, supply constraints, or regional markets. That is exactly where the answer to this owner’s question lies.

Has Toyota misled its customers?

Some 2026 Toyota Sienna owners are complaining from the lack of equipment that according to Toyota, should be standard

The 2026 Toyota Sienna is available in six different trims - LE, XLE, XSE, Limited, Woodland Edition, and Platinum. Prices range from $41,615 to $59,005. However, you can only get side-mirror-integrated turn signals on XSE or higher trims, and there lies the issue.  This owner has the Sienna XSE and does not have them, and it is not the first post in the group that complaints about the lack of this feature

Something peculiar is happening. Toyota’s press release states that for the 2026 model year, the Sienna XLE and XSE trims (and higher) will feature standard side-mirror turn signals. While this is true for the US and Canadian markets, the array of standard features may vary depending on the region. This particular owner is not based in North America, but a quick search reveals that the 2026 Sienna (XLE or higher trim) should have side-mirror turn signals.

The owner’s post created an interesting discussion with some members claiming you need to opt for the “Premium package” to get this feature. Others are quick to dismiss that as incorrect information. The 2025 model year indeed had a Premium package, which added mirror-integrated turn signals.  There was also a Technology Package that added a few bits that are standard on the 2026, which removes the need for optional packages.

A mystery waiting to be solved

Cases like these truly boggle the mind. Many Toyota owners wish for more standard equipment, and on paper at least, the 2026 Sienna shows that the company is listening to people. I suppose it pays to be extra specific when ordering your brand-new car so as to avoid disappointment when your new purchase eventually arrives, and isn’t quite what you paid for.

As more XSE owners weigh in, the discussion may help determine whether mirror-mounted turn signals are a missing feature, a trim-level variation, or simply not standard on certain 2026 XSE models. This should be a reminder to buyers that when it comes to modern vehicles, the details matter. If you have any insight on such matters, I would love to hear about them in the comment section below. In the meantime, I will update as new details emerge.
