We just got the new price info for 2027, and the great news is that the “$32K” starting price has barely budged. This news stunned us since, as Kia says, the compact hybrid crossover market is a "...competitive market teeming with consumers who prioritize fuel efficiency along with upgraded daily comfort and class-up conveniences." Hybrids now command three times the market share that EVs do in America and have just demonstrated a hockey stick growth curve.
Kia Sportage Turbo Hybrid Prices 2027
The 2027 Kia Sportage Turbo Hybrid LX will start at $32,085. Are we being fair calling that a “$32K” price? We think so. Even with a Doc fee of a few hundred dollars factored in, the price still rounds to $32K. That is well below the average transaction price (ATP) of a new compact crossover, which Cox Automotive pegs at $37,707.
Here’s what you need to know about that price. It is for a Front Wheel Drive Sportage. The all-wheel drive LX Sportage Turbo Hybrid is $32,785, so “$33K.” Not everyone in America needs AWD. We think it is great that Kia offers buyers a choice.
Kia offers seven trim and powertrain levels in the 2027 Sportage Turbo Hybrid, with the well-equipped EV AWD coming in at just $35,385. The top of the line is the SX-Prestige AWD, which has a price of $42,185. Looking over the various prices, we are confident that Kia’s Sportage Turbo Hybrid will have an average consumer cost below the segment’s average ATP.
Why Do We Keep Saying Kia Sportage “Turbo” Hybrid?
If you read this far, you notice we’ve typed the word Turbo a lot. That’s because Kia uses an unusual hybrid setup. Instead of an anemic base engine, Kia starts with the robust 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine we like on its own. To this, it adds its electric motors. Kia is also unusual in that the brand uses a geared transmission instead of an eCVT. If you don't like CVTs, then buy a Kia Turbo Hybrid.
