Spending $10,000 For 800 Horsepower Is The Best Way To Threat Your Ford Mustang GT

Forget the Mustang GTD, this is how to get the most bang for buck from your Coyote V-8.

The Ford Mustang is one of the most iconic performance cars globally, and for good reason. While not all generations backed the iconic name with blistering performance and rumbling V-8 power, the legacy remained strong over the decades. In fact, Ford’s Mustang is the last bastion of old-school American Muscle, and if you already have one (or plan to), there is a new way to enhance its performance for a very reasonable price.

The last bastion of American Muscle

By now, we all know that the Chevy Camaro as we know it, has been discontinued, and GM reportedly plans to slap the nameplate on a fastback EV, rivalling the Mustang Mach-E GT. Meanwhile, Dodge gave us an all-electric Charger, and is still being criticized for it. The company remedied that by shoving the new Hurricane inline–six in it, which was a move in the right direction, but many MOPAR fans are still waiting for the Hemi V-8’s return.

In short, the Mustang is the only Muscle car that remained true to the original formula, and for just $10,5000, you can make it even better. Ford Performance recently unveiled a new package that boosts power from the standard 480 horsepower to 810. Peak torque jumps to 615 pound-feet.

The Coyote V-8 has become a legend in the tuner world. Regardless of the generation, the 5.0 is easily capable of pushing 800 horsepower reliably. The new kit features a 3.0-liter Gen 6 Whipple supercharger, along with a comprehensive list of supporting mods, like intercooler, new, larger throttle bodies, and much more. All that for just $10,500. A similar treatment is offered for the Coyote-powered Ford F-150, at the cost of $10,250. This bumps the truck’s output up to 700 horsepower and 590 pound-feet.

Under $60,000, all in

Ford Performance’s new supercharger kit offers what I find to be the best way to get extreme performance out of Ford’s 5.0-liter engine, for a reasonable price. The base Ford Mustang GT starts at $46,560. Add the Ford Performance supercharger kit, and you are looking at 800 horsepower for just $57,060. That’s before taxes, and not counting the dealer markups. That said, a quick glance at TrueCar reveals that there are plenty of examples for under $50,000.

The supercharger kit is a dealer option and comes with a three-year or 36,000-mile warranty. Sadly, the kit isn’t available for 2026 vehicles in California.

Overall, Ford is offering exceptional value for money with the new supercharger kit, especially on the Mustang GT. The bang-for-buck ratio is unbeatable. The best part for me is that even the base Ford Mustang GT gets you all the essentials. Since 1986, all Mustang V-8 models have come standard with a limited-slip differential.

MagneRide suspension is optional and a great thing to have. The good news is that even if you don't tick that box on the options’ list, the vast aftermarket support has got your back. Does this make the Mustang GT the most appealing performance car you can get? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
