Jim O'Brock, a brand-new Cybertruck owner from Louisiana, says a cop pulled him over on his first drive.
Jim picked up his Cybertruck in Florida and was driving through Mississippi on his way to Louisiana when he saw a highway patrol car turn on its siren and follow him.
At this point, Jim was confused because he didn’t believe he had done anything wrong; however, once the trooper approached him, the situation became even more bizarre.
According to Jim, the police officer stopped him not because he had broken any laws but simply to check out the Cybertruck.
Jim says that since he'd only picked up the truck a few hours earlier, he didn’t know much about it; however, he tried to inform the police officer to the best of his ability.
Finally, the happy police officer gave him a police escort through an accident on the highway.
Jim was surprised by how things unfolded, and the Cybertruck owner shared his story on the Cybertruck Owners Only group on Facebook.
He writes…
“Tell us your funny, or not, encounters with police regarding your Cybertruck!
I’ll go first: I picked up my Cybertruck in Pensacola and was driving through Vicksburg, Mississippi, on my way to Shreveport, Louisiana.
Traffic was slow due to an accident. I spotted the trooper just as he saw me.
He jumped in his car, turned on his lights and siren, and pulled me over. He said, ‘I just want to see what this thing is!’
So I showed him the features I knew about so far. Then he said, ‘Follow me,’ and gave me a police escort through the accident!”
This is certainly an odd reason to be pulled over by the police; however, looking at the comments, multiple Cybertruck owners shared similar experiences.
A fellow Cybertruck owner, John OBrien, says he was singled out for driving a Cybertruck and ended up getting a ticket.
John writes…
“On the drive home after picking up my Cybertruck, I was singled out for driving through an accident and was the only one given a ticket. Reckless driving, and it was reduced to a civil penalty.”
Another Cybertruck owner, Allen Madison, writes…
“I was stopped by the police in my town when I first got the truck. But I haven’t been pulled over yet.”
A third Cybertruck owner, Sam Cohen, writes…
“I got my truck in early April of 2024. It was wildly attention-grabbing in the first few months.
I mean, people were pulling over on the side of the road to video me as I drove it home from the dealer on the highway at 65 or 70 mph.
A cop car pulled up alongside me, rolled down the window, and I rolled down mine. While going 70 miles an hour, the cops tried to yell a conversation to me about what it was that I was driving and if I made it myself.”
A fourth Cybertruck owner, Ron Newman, writes…
“I was pulled over for lack of an inspection sticker. Then they walked up and saw it on the small driver-side triangle window. They asked about the truck's features and range, and then let me go.”
A fifth Cybertruck owner, JD Snead, writes…
“The local Police Chief and Fire Department Chief are my neighbors. Neither could believe the horsepower numbers or the acceleration stats.
But they thought the batteries wouldn’t last long enough for them.
I’ll look them up again in a few years.”
Overall, it seems driving a Cybertruck will increase your chances of unwanted encounters with law enforcement. However, please let me know what you think in the comments.
