Toyota has announced a new customer support plan for vehicles with peeling white and blizzard pearl paint. The paint can degrade very rapidly. Some vehicles see the paint begin to come off in as little as one year. The problem affects nearly 2 million vehicles. The program will support you whether you are the original owner or purchased the vehicle used.

Toyota White Blizzard Pearl Support Program Phase 1 Notification
Toyota began notifying owners last year in the fall. The owners of Toyotas with white or blizzard pearl paint received a letter notifying them of the upcoming support.

Phase 2 - Repair
Toyota's second phase will consist of a repair made by your local dealer at no cost to you. Any authorized Toyota Dealership can determine if a condition is covered by this Customer Support Program, not just the one from which the vehicle was purchased.

Contact your dealer if you have an affected vehicle. They will tell you the schedule and plan for repairs to your vehicle. Those owners who wish to have direct contact with Toyota on this issue can call the Toyota Customer Experience Center at 1-888-270-9371 Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, Saturday 7:00 am to 4:30 pm.

If you have a Toyota with Blizzard Pearl or Super White paint that seems defective please tell us about it in the comments below. Detail your contact with Toyota and how the issue is being handled. Your experience may help a fellow owner.

Thank you for sharing. The same thing happened to me. I just found out from the dealership that Toyota is refusing to pay for the paint. There is clearly an issue with the paint on my vehicle as well; however, Toyota is refusing to pay. I plan to call them tomorrow and see what can be done. Have you tried calling Toyota? If so, what happened? If not, here is the customer service phone number: 1-888-270-9371.

I'm having the same problem with my 2010 prius (blizzard pearl). Large flakes of paint coming off the roof and around the drivers door handle. My local dealer told me toyota won't do anything for prius owners experiencing this problem. Clearly they need to extend this coverage for all affected owners!

I have the 2010 white blizzard Prius. It is feeling super bad due to colour defect it is bubbling from within, Toyota said if the car is over three years old they will not repair it. So I’m gonna drive the car without color which will cause it to rust. I should have bought the blue one and I wouldn’t have this problem. Toyota should have a class action lawsuit
I will gladly join.

Leslie, I have a 2013 Prius Persona with paint peeling off. Don't give up. What state are you in? Take your car to the auto shop that the Toyota Dealer in your area uses and get them to take pictures and document the Manufacture defect. There is a deadline coming up in 2022 so research it and don't give up. Toyota will have to pay for it. You can also file the complaint with Toyota North America. Do not get your car painted, wait for Toyota, they will have to paint your car but you need to push it. Good Luck, Ana in Florida

Sign me up for any lawsuit, too. My 2010 Prius is starting to look like a Dalmation (with silver spots). It's ridiculous that Toyota won't add the Prius to the recall list when, clearly, there is an issue with the blizzard pearl.

Yep, I have a 2010 Prius with big bubbles of paint lifting off. I was excited to see Toyota was willing to fix those Blizzard Pearl paint jobs, and tried to find any info for Prius owners. Such a bummer!!

I bought a 2010 Prius in Blizzard Pearl. Paint is coming off in small circular chips. I filed a complaint with Toyota Customer Care. They said Prius models are not covered under the warranty, despite the fact that it’s the same paint color. So far, my efforts to hold Toyota accountable have not been successful.

Stefanie my Toyota Prado has the same problem but not one of the covered cars. I haven’t contacted Toyota yet as I just seen the damage the other day and found out that it is a common issue. Will be conducting further inquiries that’s for sure.

What about the Toyota Prius? 2010 Pearl White Prius - numerous people reporting problems with the paint chipping / peeling; body shops reporting that the paint wasn't adhering to the primer; still Toyota is not taking responsibility and telling Prius owners they're on their own - out of warranty! :(

Wonder when they will fix the sound bar in the back of my 2019 Camry XSE? It’s been cracking since day 1, had it to the dealer! Still waiting!!!

You need to call customer care they’ll connect you to the closest dealer that can access the paint and repair . My 2015 Camry started peeling by the trunk in 2019 and now the hood and driver door are affected it’s peeling fast now . I was told I’m only covered until 2022 and they will only paint affected area if no other damage is detected but at this rate it’s going to continue to peel this seems like loyal customers are getting screwed they should repaint the whole car I’m fine with them leaving any damage not from paint defect but I know my car will continue to peel long after they band aid the small areas and I still have to wait and see if it gets approved at least the dealer employees made the process as smooth as they could .

I have a 2010 Prius IV in blizzard pearl white. Paint started falling off in sheets in December. Went to a body shop that told me it’s paint failure. Dealer seemed clueless at first so I called Toyota USA. Nothing. A few weeks later 2/15 I sent an online complaint & same day spoke to customer service that took a report. At their request I took car to Toyota dealer for inspection, that day! Dealer confirmed report was sent to Toyota USA immediately. I did not hear a thing for 6 weeks so I called 3/31. They claimed to have called but didn’t say when (smart phone & an Apple Watch) record says no they didn’t. They offered $750 in a voucher usable only with dealer to cover An estimate of $1,113. I know have more than 2 sqft of bare metal on my Prius. This is my 5th & last Toyota. I bought it new, serviced it always at the dealer & washed/waxed it at a pro car wash about every 2 weeks. I live in San Diego were its rarely above 75 degrees or below 45 degrees. as bad as the paint issue is the service has been insultingly robotic, erratic, unprofessionally slow & unaccountable. How far this former leader in customer service has fallen,

Who did you send the email complaint to ? And did they say it was involved in the recall? I called and they told me mine wasn't in the recall , but I wasnt sure if I should pursue it more ?

I received a letter from my dealership . Letter states my vehicle is under the customer support program where vehicle's factory applied paint Blizzard pearl or super white is peeling for all the ingredients wasn't mixed in the factory paint that should have been but it's not showing up for a recall. Guess I will have to call my dealership . Was hoping I could take care of the appointment on line.

I have a 2012 Rav4, blizzard./white.
Paint is pealing off the right front fender and various areas. I also received a letter months ago about the problem and have not heard anything since. What is the next step?

I have a 2010 Prius in blizzard pearl. Paint started to bubble up and fall of in sheets just on the left drivers side door now starting on the right side up by the wind shield. When I took to dealer in Temecula CA for an inspection they said it was a "bad paint job" customer service made a report and called the higher up. After weeks of back and forth just said flat out they couldn't do anything for me. What a joke!!! no kidding its a bad paint job!! Toyota's!! Never ever will I by a Toyota again.

My 2011 Avalon paint started chipping shortly after I bought it from the original owner. It wasnt much so I shrugged it off. Then last summer the paint started bubbling up and seriously peeling. There isn't a dealer in my town so I will have to go 20 to 40 miles away.
