Toyota White Blizzard Pearl Support Program Phase 1 Notification
Toyota began notifying owners last year in the fall. The owners of Toyotas with white or blizzard pearl paint received a letter notifying them of the upcoming support.

Phase 2 - Repair
Toyota's second phase will consist of a repair made by your local dealer at no cost to you. Any authorized Toyota Dealership can determine if a condition is covered by this Customer Support Program, not just the one from which the vehicle was purchased.

Contact your dealer if you have an affected vehicle. They will tell you the schedule and plan for repairs to your vehicle. Those owners who wish to have direct contact with Toyota on this issue can call the Toyota Customer Experience Center at 1-888-270-9371 Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, Saturday 7:00 am to 4:30 pm.

If you have a Toyota with Blizzard Pearl or Super White paint that seems defective please tell us about it in the comments below. Detail your contact with Toyota and how the issue is being handled. Your experience may help a fellow owner.

I noticed the roof paint on my 2013 Highlander is peeling as well. I called Toyota and got the same response..."It is not under warranty or recall". Maybe we could start a FaceBook page like " Toyota Doesn't Honor Product Flaws" and everyone post and tag Toyota.

We have the 2014 toyota corolla, pearl white which we are taking to toyota for evaluation, step 1. We have peeling paint, but also have what looks like water spots all over the vehicle, has been like this for 4 or 5 years. Has anyone else noticed this.

I been at Toyota Dealer and they basically do not care about my situation, they told me I have to find the solution with TOYOTA. They want to paint my car partially , and on my opinion they will just extend the problem...once they will not paint the whole car. I want to sick my rights...Does anyone had this experience?

Linda (not verified)    July 17, 2020 - 9:24PM

I have the same problem with my 2012 Highlander and I have gotten the same responses from Customer support three times. The supervisor I spoke with today was even firmer with his canned response. I plan to write the new CEO as well as the Exec VP of Product Support and Chief Quality Officer. The more we all bring this to their attention, the more impact we will make!

Same here with a 2010 Prius. The paint started pealing over 5 years ago, obviously defective. Toyota won’t take any responsibility.

I just noticed paint peeling in several places on my blizzard white 2015 Camry. I am hoping that Toyota will fix this issue at no cost to me.

I have a 2011 Rav 4 with the Blizzard Pearl paint. Started chipping/peeling off right after I bought it 2nd hand, in 2017. Received a letter about it from Toyota in Dec. 2019, but haven't had any further notifications. It's chipping/peeling everywhere, but it's really bad on the roof.

2010 Rav4 - Blizzard Pearl - Dealer is getting it painted this month through the extended warranty. We were told that it is not an official recall, so you won't get a notice from them. You need to ask about it at a dealership and they will take pictures and send it to someone at Toyota to get it approved. We are dissapointed that it is not an official recall because the onus is on the vehicle owner to ask about it.

I have a white 2014 Corolla and I have the same problem on the roof, driver's door, left passenger door and the hood of the car

I have a 2003 Sequoia with 'Super White' paint. The paint is dull and has no clear coat at all, with now sheen whatsoever. Also, the paint on all of the wheels is peeling. Hopefully Toyota will make good on the defective finish and pay for repainting the car body and wheels.

After getting in touch with Toyota and getting a claim number, they will do nothing about the white paint on my Toyota pealing. They know it’s a problem but until they get enough people complaining nothing will be done. So keep contacting them

I have a 2011 Toyota Camry LE , I received a letter from Toyota back in the fall of 2019 about the recall on the paint . The car is horrible ( Note this is my 2nd 2011 Toyota Camry) my first camry’s Paint was perfect with a nice shine . This one has NO clear coat , paint chips all over the Hood , It’s horrible?! I still haven’t heard one thing back on fixing the problems with the paint . Not to mention.. Toyota’s are not cheep ? So are customers supposed to Pay the high cost of a vehicle, and just expect the fact that Toyota will not be held responsible!! Just Curious.. cause that’s bad business?

2010 Rav4. Received a letter a while back but no follow up. Is the Rav4 covered on the recall? Paint is peeling off.

Meredith Matics (not verified)    July 30, 2020 - 10:28PM

Mine is highly faded and chipping. Took it in today and only 50% of my car qualified for painting. So half the car will be painted. Seems dumb.

2014 Tacoma with Super White that is peeling. Not included in their program. Looks like I'm done with Toyota! Would love to know if there is a class action going on. If so I'll sign on in a skinny minute!

It is so dissapointing how Toyota has handled all other vehicles that are suffering of the same problem. I read about it everywhere in this blog, I own a Toyota Sequoia 2012 with the Blizzard Pearl White Paint, the way the paint is peeling off my truck, it's disgusting! there was a time when we did not have to worry about a toyota Paint and Body work, but the quality on the product out there today is way below standards... If there is a class action lawsuit brewing out there, I will be happy to help and participate!

Saw peeling paint at right rear corner of roof. 2013 Highlander. Being told by Toyota they know what factories paint shipped to by supplier, when received and what vin #s it was used on. They are also quick to say coverage is vin specific and my vin isn’t covered ‘at this time, maybe at a later date. I’ll get a letter in the mail when/if if/that time comes..’ Who made the decision not to cover a car that they claim to know got bad paint while other Toyota models are covered? Toyota used to be a leader in customer service.

I initially reached out to Toyota about my mother's 2013 pearl white Scion in December 2017 about peeling paint. I had read numerous complaints about this model and color having issues with peeling paint but could not get assistance with what I thought seemed like a systemic problem. I took her car to Bobby Rahal Toyota in Mechanicsburg, Pa for their expert evaluation. No assistance was offered in seeking help from corporate. After that, I contacted corporate myself and ran into another dead end. The car was almost bare as all the paint was off the top and along the side and down the back. My mother gave up on Toyota and took her bare car to get it repainted. Of course, shortly after she got her car painted, Toyota published a recall. We submitted her receipts and required paperwork twice and were given the run around that her receipts were not on the correct letterhead. She is retired, on a limited income, and the $5,000+ paint costs were/are a hardship. I am requesting immediate attention to my mother's case.

We have a 2011 Lexus GX 460 since brand new, the hood paint is peeling off .. we took to the Lexus dealer and they couldn’t do anything. We’re very disappointed how this have been handle . They say cars go through 100 point inspections every time car is taken to service. They should have seen this before my paint warranty expired . Now ,we have to pay for it... we are Lexus customers since long time ago. We have purchased several Lexus in the past and still today we drives Lexus .. Hope lexus corporation sees this message and could help us please .

Have 2010 Corolla. Paint is peeling badly on the engine hood and the leading edge of the roof.
Received THE LETTER a year ago. Still waiting to hear from about “the fix”.

Kathy Boyett (not verified)    August 16, 2020 - 5:52PM

Sent this letter via email to today to Toyota -

Hello,

I have been dealing with our local Toyota dealership (Bob Smith Toyota, La Crescenta, Ca) for now over 5 months in regards to my paint job recall notice on my Rav4 Limited UTL 4DR. I took the car in for the initial estimate on a new paint job in March 2020 as per the recall instructions. It has been 5, FIVE months and still no authorization on the paint job. Since that time, the paint is peeling more on the roof of the car, the back right passenger door, and the hood. It now requires just about the entire car painted. I drove into the dealership to update them on the new paint demise last week. I am at a loss as to what to do at this point. I am thinking of beginning a Class Action Law suit against Toyota due to neglect of a recall. I have spoken to a lawyer and was told to write this email and advise you of the entire situation. I know I am not alone in this recall neglect on Toyota’s part. I am not a suing type person, but think that may be my only recourse for lack of authorization to get this done. At this point I need the whole car repainted because I will not go through this again when I see more paint peeling. I was so proud when I paid off my car and now it just looks terrible! I will not ever by Toyota again (my husband owns a Toyota truck) if this is not addressed. I think waiting now almost a half a year is much too long. Please advise as to my next step to get this resolved.

I have fought this for 4 years and finally got them (Lexus to agree to cover 60%. Whats that. That admits there is a problem. But to this day it is still getting worse and roof is metal. Funny how spoiler and my accident parts are fine. I bought at least 10 lexuses and had totaled 3 so Ive support JM Lexus for 14 years. So even if they over it it will take years to get fixed. But Cant sell it like this. So Im going to let it peel completely off entire truck then call new papers to take pictures when I draw a lexus symbol on it and call it a new color they released. Sheet metal. But the color takes 7-8 years to mature. Shame because such a nice truck and pretty. But at least I got 50% of a marked up 200% job makes sense. They took it one time and said that I had to pay 600 for end caps to a roof rack I've never used because they could break. I said no and pulled my truck out. Well now Im missing the one they took off and kind of hoped it half way on and the second one I found in the roof rack. Put it on and now it's gone. 125 EACH
THEY ARE LOSING MY BUSINESS TO CADALAC, MASERATI, VOLKSWAGON, BMW AND i HAVE an audi. I hate mercedes so Lexus get your shit together. You should be ashamed.

I have 2009 Camry with a gray metallic paint that’s chipped and cracking. Also fading real bad on the roof. Is the recall only for white colors??

Michael Connors (not verified)    August 23, 2020 - 8:10AM

I own a LEXUS gx 470 with the blizzard pearl. I had mine start at least 3-4 years ago. Small crack which chipped to metal. I fought JM Lexus and kept saying nothing they can do. Its obviously a bad primer or metal or something. But I spend 100 thousand of dollars in JM and over 85 in body shop who are good. So finally after me getting the GM of Body Shop they called about 2 years ago and lexus only agreed to pay 60%. And only paint roof, doors from windows to molding and my tailgate by the window just started. Ifs funny how the aftermarket spoiler had no problem and hood and front fenders are perfect and molding down is fine. so are running boards. So I sent it in and all these extra charges like end caps for roof rack 600, 50 a door handle and 1500 they wanted to paint into my front fender for blending. Yet I had an accident 3 months prior and they never painted the fender into the door. I said absolutely not you going to be painting something brand new. sO i pulled it out. All new parts no crack/peel down to metal. So I just saw the same vehicle for sale on ebay. Same color and noticed his was doing the same peeling. Which brought me here. Im embarrassed to drive it because its washed every week and waxed 3 months but roof is destroyed and doors keep getting worse and worse. But its around windows and just erroneous cracks which flake dow to METAL then the rust begins. Lexus and Toyota fix your issue. The bad advertising alone should not make people like me who only buy lexus ls adjust got GX 460 but still have my 470 because its a great truck. But cant sell a car with no paint. I fought a long time and the service would even laugh which really pisses me off.

2016 Toyota Camry with Blizzard paint peeling by door on passenger side by front windshield in kinda big chunks please let me know wat to do

Stromeur (not verified)    August 24, 2020 - 10:31PM

it’s nice to repaint the parts affected but the fact remains that the places where it does not take off yet like the rocker panels or any other place subject to the road projection will certainly rust , I care because I live in Canada : even worse than your snowbelt for my white '13 Rav4 .
