During a question-and-answer session, Molly Peck, the vice president of GMC marketing told reporters they believe there is room to grow Sierra sales in the premium segment. Peck says they are finding that their current customers want more, more luxury and more capability. The current customers enjoy the luxurious interior, plus, they want rugged performance. They want the truck to be comfortable on pavement and truly capable off-road.

2022 GMC Sierra Highlights

The 2022 Sierra has a wider, front grille, with new C-shaped headlights. The truck now more closely resembles the styling of the GMC Yukon. The newly redesigned interior has a larger 13.4-inch diagonal color touchscreen. The dash also has a new 12.3-inch diagonal digital instrument cluster and a 15-inch multicolor Head-Up Display. In all, the Sierra will have more than 40 inches of digital display which is the most in its class. All of the different screens are customizable and configurable, so the driver can easily and quickly reach whatever is important to them. Plus, the Sierra will now have Google built-in, just like the 2022 Yukon and the 2022 GMC HUMMER EV. Drivers will have immediate access to Google Maps and Google Assistant. Google Maps will even highlight roads that are compatible with Super Cruise.

2022 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate

The new Sierra Denali Ultimate is described as offering the best of the best. It will come standard with Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance technology. The new Super Cruise will be able to handle trailering, allowing drivers to take their hands off the wheel while towing. While the new Super Cruise is able to handle lane changes, it will not be able to change lanes while towing, instead Super Cruise will ask the driver to take over to accomplish those tasks. The Super Cruise trailering technology is considered highly desirable because 60 percent of Sierra owners say that they tow regularly.

The Sierra Denali Ultimate has a standard 6.2L V-8 engine that provides 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. It rides on 22” wheels. The Denali Ultimate will have the Denali Premium Suspension with segment-exclusive Adaptive Ride Control. Power assist steps are also standard. The 6-Way MultiPro tailgate is also standard and it comes with a CarbonPro bedliner to protect the truck bed.

According to GMC, a number of topographical maps of Mount Denali are etched and embossed throughout the interior. These maps can be found laser-etched on to the open-pore Paldao wood on the front passenger-side dashboard, in the full-grain leather on the front and back of the front seats, rear seat and door panels, as well as on the exterior fender vent badges. The interior features the premium leather, premium wood and also premium microsuede trim on the headliner, visors and on the pillars. The Denali Ultimate also has best-in-class 16-way power-adjustable and massaging front seats.

2022 GMC Sierra AT4X Model

All-new AT4X trim has advanced off-road capability, with Multimatic DSSV dampers, front and rear e-lockers and Terrain Mode. The AT4X has a standard 6.2L V-8 engine and 10-speed automatic transmission, unique springs that, with the Multimatic dampers, increase maximum front and rear suspension travel by 50 mm and 25 mm, respectively, compared with the standard AT4 suspension. It has a two-speed transfer case, with selectable modes for different off-road conditions — including Terrain Mode, which allows one-pedal rock crawling. One pedal crawling means that the vehicle slows down as soon as you take your foot off the gas.

The AT4X has specific off-road chassis and suspension calibrations. It rides on 18-inch black wheels with LT265/70R18 Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac Mud-Terrain tires. The interior balances luxury with comfort and convenience. It features premium leather and dark Vanta ash wood trim. The AT4X also has the 40 inches of customizable, digital display and the 16-way adjustable, massaging seats.

The refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra will arrive at dealerships in the first quarter of 2022. Because of the current shortages, nearly all of the trucks are being presold. Customers can place reservations starting now at www.gmc.com.
