2022 Toyota Tundra and Tacoma Delivery Time Lines Are Determined By Allocation

How long does it take to order a car from Toyota in 2022? Imagine if you have ordered a 2022 Toyota Tacoma or a 2022 Tundra pickup truck in January of this year and are still waiting. Well. The answer doesn't necessarily depend on when you ordered it.

I saw a discussion in the Tundras and Trailers group on Facebook, where a person was asking how long it takes for a Toyota Tundra to arrive if he ordered his car in January of the current year.

He says he ordered his 2022 Tundra in January and is still waiting on delivery. The user's name is Mark Taylor and Mark says he is looking forward to camping this summer with Freedom Express, but doesn't want to book too much and have to cancel because the truck isn’t in. "Any experience with the timeline for delivery?, Mark asks, adding that he ordered the 2022 SR5 TRD Sport Tundra.

Well, first of all a good salesperson at your Toyota dealership should be able to give you a good estimate on when your Toyota vehicle will be delivered. There are so many variables these days that may delay the delivery of your 2022 Toyota and push the delivery time back several months. However, there is also one aspect I would like you to know and take into consideration.

It's not really about when you ordered it your Toyota vehicle. "The real time line begins when your dealership gets the allocation," explains Wesley Kennedy in the group.

If you have a VIN you can have your Toyota dealer track its progress. "In my case, I found a dealership close by that already had an allocation for the truck I wanted. They were able to give me an estimated built and delivery date. The build date was two days later than the estimate and the delivery date was three days earlier. Until your dealership gets the allocation you could be looking at a very long wait," Kennedy explained.

Thus, before you order a vehicle, ask your Toyota dealership if it has an allocation. That will help you to determine your delivery time line.

By the way, these types of discussions about car delivery times are very common these days in automotive forums and social media. In fact, there was a similar discussion by the RAV4 hybrid owners and enthusiasts, who were discussing and explaining the delivery timelines of their 2022 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid.

Tundra is a great truck. Did you know that the 2022 Toyota Tundra is the only truck with a single advantage in sales? It's probably because of its multimedia system, among other good specs of this truck. You may not believe it, but see what the 2022 Tundra's multimedia system can do.

Please, check them out and let me know your thoughts and your wait time experience in the comments section below. Did you have to wait for your Toyota for weeks or months?

I placed an order for a Tundra SR on 1/31/22 and was told that the typical lead time for delivery would be 8 to 16 weeks. It is now 12 weeks into the process and the dealer now says they have no idea what month my order will be filled. They cannot get an allocation for my vehicle and there are no SR's available for trade with other dealers. The only positive circumstance is that the dealer is standing by the new vehilce cost and the trade in value of my current Tundra for now.

Requested my Tacoma in May 2021. They had to change to 2022 models of course in the fall, and still haven't received it. That is one kind of timeline............

I ordered a TRD Sport Premium on Jan 15/22 and was told to expect a mid-Apr/22 delivery. On May 4/22 (Star Wars Day), I was told Toyota stopped production of the Sport Premium due to the Doritos shortage and they offered me a Sport edition in early June/22 or to place a new order for a Sport Premium with an unknown delivery date. I choose the latter.

I ordered a Tacoma TRD Sport on 2/17/22, got a call yesterday saying the truck was on the way from the factory in Tijuana. Wouldn't give me a specific delivery date, only that the truck should arrive within the next couple of weeks.

I ordered a 22 trd off road tacoma on 2/14 and was told it was built on 4/28 and then shipped to dealer. On the way it was pulled off for a QA check. It was released from the QA line on 6/13 and now NOBODY knows where the vehicle is. I didn't know you could just misplace a truck?

I have now been informed by my Toyota dealership that Tacoma TRD Pro"s are now being made again. ( delays caused by supply parts issues) So I am patiently waiting that I might receive mine before I die as I am 76 years old. Truck ordered October 6th, 2021.

I ordered a 21 Tacoma TRD Sport in May 2021. Changed my order in January 22 to a Tundra, which I was expecting in Oct 22. The Tundra now delayed to some unknown date, but the original Tacoma I ordered came in May. So Im driving that now and will sell it when my Tundra comes in. I live in Hawaii so it probably takes longer to get the vehicles.

Update- Back on June 23rd the dealer told me that my Tundra had been built in San Antonio, but they could not provide an estimated date that it would arrive at the dealership. They emailed today July 15, that it was being loaded off the carrier truck at their location so it was 24 weeks (1/31-7/15/22) from order to delivery at the dealership.
I told them I was having second thoughts about the color and asked if I could change it,

Ordered a Tocoma Limited in November 2021. Build date was May 12th. According to the Toyota system, the truck was suppose to be delivered between July 9 - 14. Vehicles were delivered but my truck was not. The sales person never called or tried to follow up on the status of my truck. The Toyota tracking system has not been updated as of July 19th. Still waiting.

Ordered my 22 Tacoma SR5 end of March was told it would be here in May, dealership called and manufacturer had not even start to build, received another call in June was told I was next on list, dealer called yesterday 07/18/22 and told me they can’t even find my truck model within a 500 mile radius and that Toyota isn’t even making the extend cabs, they aren’t even sure if I will receive before 2023

I ordered my truck and received a build date of July 8. I then received estimated delivery dates of about July 23, then July 26-Aug 3rd. Those dates have come and gone and my dealer now says they have no idea when it will arrive. The dealer says he has 21 vehicles which are "lost" past their estimated delivery dates, and cannot even be located. Driver shortage or something. Very frustrating.

Got a call from a dealer back in May saying they had an allocation with the trim I was looking for. Put the deposit down and waited. Had an update with a build date of mid July and a delivery date in August. Mid August I get an email from the sales agent saying that the vehicle had shipped and that it would arrive no later than the end of August, then he followed up with an email to get financing in order right away. Well I did, and I sold my car. Now after not getting any updates I spoke with the sales manager only to find out that they have no clue when it will arrive. Wouldn't have been as mad if the sales agent hadn't been so adamant about getting financing and selling my vehicle. Now I have to use a relatives car and will have my financing expire before the vehicle gets in.

Not a Tundra, but a 2023 Sequoia. Ordered August 29th and still no estimate of delivery. Dealer said I was the 1st customer to order a new Sequoia. I guess I wait.

I ordered a sr5 4x4 tacoma mid Oct, was told around thanksgiving, then Dec 15, it now is Dec 23 and nothing. Was told it was built on Dec 13, and has spent the last 10 days in warehouse awaiting truck to haul it here. Compared to other stories on this thread my story isn't bad, except I sold my old truck expecting to get a new one. Hard to work as a contractor without a truck, but I don't work much anymore anyhow as I am pretty old.

Finally!
After the last allocation the dealership notified me that my 2023 Sequoia Capstone was scheduled to be built on February 2nd. I’ve waited since late August for this news.
Should have in early March. That’s fine. Don’t really need to take delivery in the middle of winter.
