You May Not Believe What New 2022 Tundra Multimedia System Can Do

Wow. See how the 2022 Toyota Tundra multimedia system can help you with its many capabilities and commands.

There are many features that stand out in my mind about all-new 2022 Toyota Tundra. Bold new exterior styling. Powerful new engines. Bigger towing capacities. Modern interior styling.

Today I will focus my attention on the brand-new Toyota Audio Multimedia system. Conveniently enough, this was first introduced for 2022 Tundra.

Plus, I found just the truck to test out the new system.

I recently had the opportunity to spend some quality time with a new Toyota Tundra. Specifically, this was a 2022 Tundra SR5 with a TRD Sport package, in Blueprint color.

Interior styling is new and modern, an improvement Tundra fans have been screaming about for years.

The first thing that grabbed my attention was the massive 14-inch multimedia screen. A 2022 Tundra SR5 typically comes standard with an 8-inch screen, while Limited trims and above come with standard 14-inch screens.

However, this SR5 has a Premium Audio upgrade, which bumps it up to the larger (much larger) system.

My mission for the day was to film a video for my “ToyotaJeff Reviews” YouTube channel that shows off the many voice commands and capabilities available to owners.

After a couple hours of experimentation, mission accomplished. And call me impressed.

I will put the finished video from my channel in this section below. I hope you enjoy it.

The new Toyota Audio Multimedia system has five times the processing speed as its predecessor. It is also more conversational, meaning you can pretty much talk to your 2022 Tundra, within reason, and get the information you need.

VIDEO YOU MAY ENJOY: I try out many voice commands in a 2022 Toyota Tundra.

To activate voice commands, simply say the words “ok Toyota”, “hey Toyota”, “hi Toyota”, or “hello Toyota” followed by your voice command. You do not need to push the voice commands button on the steering wheel any longer to make requests.

I was amazed by the sheer number of commands I was able to successfully try during my evaluation. You can get help with navigation, audio, phone calls and text messages, general knowledge and trivia, and vehicle information.

Imagine asking your Toyota Tundra, “ok Toyota, tell me about the 2022 Tundra engine.” She told me the V8 was replaced with two new engine choices – a twin-turbo V6 and a twin-turbo V6 hybrid. I could have filled in that Tundra i-FORCE MAX hybrid produces 437 horsepower and 583 lb.-ft. torque.

In my mind, I am wondering if I can pull off creating a Jeopardy-themed trivia game hosted by me and 2022 Tundra or 2023 Sequoia.

“That’s gold Jerry! GOLD!”

You can now even ask Toyota Tundra to tell you a joke. I enjoy dad jokes like the ones I heard Tundra tell me. A lot.

Is This Only on 2022 Tundra?

This new system is offered on 2022 Toyota Tundra, and it will be on all-new 2023 Sequoia this summer.

Look for a full rollout to eventually make its way to most, if not all, Toyota models as time moves forward.

Time for Your Toyota Tundra Comments

What did you think of the voice command capabilities from the video? Were there any commands you found helpful? Any other commands you would like me to try and see if they work?

Do you have any thoughts about all-new 2022 Toyota Tundra and all-new 2023 Toyota Sequoia?

Thanks Jeff, not to sidetrack your article, but this makes the possibility of converting my Solterra reservation into an order a bit more tolerable.

Hi Jeff, I was just wondering if you noticed the voice assistant restricting certain voice commands when in the passenger seat? I was sitting with one customer who had just purchased an SR5 and we were trying out some of the voice command. I gave a command from the passenger seat and the Toyota responded with something alone the lines of "This command is not available from your seat position."
We couldn't get it to repeat this, but we assumed that some commands can only be given by the driver. If you have or find any information on this, please share!
