Honda Civic sales up 8.6% in November on introduction of 2016 Sedan

2016 Honda Civic to return brand to dominance in the compact car segment.

Already a top seller for American Honda Motors, Honda Civic sales are up 8.6% in November with the introduction of the 2016 Civic Sedan.

Don’t cry for American Honda Motors: Although November 2015 “year over year” car sales are off 5% for November, as reported by American Honda Motors, on its introduction, 2016 Honda Civic is a runaway hit.

And, in combination with 2015 Civic clearance sales is driving the bread and butter Honda Civic name plate back to the # 1 spot in North American compact car sales; retail that is.

That’s the short story. If you’ve caught the visual that is 2016 Honda Civic Sedan in person, you already know that 10th generation Civic sets a new benchmark in design for a much too often appliance like compact car segment. With 302,000 Civics sold year to date in North America, there’s nothing appliance-like about 2016 Civic.

Honda’s Jeff Conrad puts it this way:"It is incredibly gratifying to see our customers embrace the all-new Pilot and Civic," said Jeff Conrad, senior vice president and general manager of the Honda Division. "We are going to race to the finish in the effort to earn a record number of new customers this year."

Designed and project managed from Torrance, California and constructed on the all new “World-Compact-Car-Platform” in North America, 2016 Civic Sedan comes to market with more than a handful of European car inspired design cues, measurably improved road handling, increased horsepower, torque and fuel economy; all for $150 more than 2015 Civic. In-fact, 2016 Civic has a part or two in common with Type-R.

Honda takes Civic to the next level while holding the MSRP

Priced from MSRP $18,640 to $26,500, (plus license, tax and dealer prep if any) even the basic 2.0 L i-VTEC 4 cylinder gasoline, 6 speed manual transmission 4 door sedan comes surprisingly well equipped. And frankly, other than the stunning alloy wheel design found on the top of the lineup turbocharged Civic Touring, the Civic lineup looks stunning from the basic Civic EX throughout all trim variants. You may read our initial drive impressions here.

Longer, wider, better handling and just a bit closer to the ground, this is not your parents or grandparents hand me down Civic. For those metric buyers looking for a bit more than basic transportation in their next compact sedan purchase, 2016 Civic merits your test drive.
