Nestor Ramos, a Cybertruck owner from the U.S., says he was surprised by how well his Cybertruck is holding its value.
Nestor bought his Cybertruck for $79,000, and after driving it for a year and 21,000 miles, the truck is now valued at $76,000.
He realized how well his truck was retaining its value when he recently visited the Tesla website to trade in his 2025 Cybertruck, and he received a message that read...
“Your Trade-In Estimate
$76,100
Your trade-in value estimate is based on current market conditions and vehicle details. This estimate is not guaranteed and may differ from your final offer.
Trade-In Vehicle
2025 Tesla Cybertruck All-Wheel Drive
Odometer 21,000 miles.”
After receiving this message, Nestor writes…
“Holy moly, Tesla is offering me $76,100 for my 2025 Cybertruck after driving it for over 21,000 miles!”
Nestor was definitely pleased with the trade-in estimate, and looking at the comments, other Tesla enthusiasts wanted to hear more details.
A fellow Tesla enthusiast, Joshua, asked…
“What was the purchase price?”
In response, Nestor confirmed he paid $79,900 for his Cybertruck when it was brand new.
Only losing $3,000 after over 21,000 miles is impressive, equating to just $0.14 per mile.
This level of value retention is impressive for any vehicle; however, it’s especially surprising for the Cybertruck.
A couple of years ago, Cybertruck trade-in values were dropping rapidly, and Cybertrucks bought for over $100,000 were being valued at less than $60,000 within just a few months.
The turnaround is definitely incredible, and other Tesla enthusiasts had more questions for Nestor about this trade-in offer.
Another Tesla enthusiast asks…
“Which Cybertruck variant do you have? Are you happy with the offer, or are you upset? I’m asking because I’m debating buying a used Cybertruck instead of fulfilling my order for the $60k Cybertruck variant. I want to understand what people think is a good deal.”
In response, Nestor said…
“I paid $79K… so I’ve only lost $3K after a year and 21,000 miles. That, to me, is a SOLID offer.”
This is all well and good; however, it’s important to note that this trade-in offer is from Tesla, and there are still questions about how the truck performs in the secondary market.
A fellow Tesla enthusiast asked Nestor…
“How much at CarMax and Carvana?”
Nestor replied that he didn’t check other secondary car markets.
He writes…
“Not sure, but I wouldn’t be able to roll the taxes paid if I went elsewhere other than Tesla.”
Interestingly, Nestor is trying to trade in his Cybertruck to buy another one, specifically the popular $59,900 Cybertruck, for which Tesla has started taking orders but hasn’t yet begun deliveries.
As we reported earlier, Tesla announced that the cheaper Cybertruck variant is sold out for next year within a few weeks of its introduction.
However, Nestor mentions that he’s conflicted about buying the $59,900 Cybertruck because Tesla’s policy prohibits transferring FSD to that model.
He explains…
“I placed an order for the $59k Cybertruck earlier this year. But that was before they removed the ability to transfer FSD… so I may not get anything…”
Overall, even looking at CarMax and Carvana offers, Cybertruck resale values seem to have stabilized and are slowly increasing.
Currently, on third-party trade-in sites, values for a used $79,900 Cybertruck range from the high sixties to the low seventy thousands.
Overall, Cybertruck resale prices appear to have increased after the successful introduction of the cheaper $59,900 variant. However, please let me know what you think in the comments.
