Several Cybertruck buyers are reporting long wait times to take delivery of their all-electric trucks.
Riley Anderson, a Utah Cybertruck buyer who ordered on December 2, was the first to highlight this issue; four weeks later, he still has not received his truck.
The situation becomes even more frustrating because Riley ordered his Cybertruck, expecting to benefit from Tesla's $6,500 lease incentive.
This incentive is expected to last until the end of December, and a Tesla employee assured him he would receive his vehicle before December 31st.
However, so far, he doesn’t even have a firm delivery date, and he’s now being told the Cybertruck is in production and won’t arrive in time for him to take advantage of the lease incentive.
The frustrated first-time Tesla buyer shared his experience on the Cybertruck Owners Only group on Facebook.
He writes…
“Does anyone have issues when ordering their Cybertruck?
I ordered mine online with help from a Tesla salesman on December 2nd. I decided to lease it because of the $6,500 lease credit.
My Tesla app has never shown an ETA, even today, but the salesman kept insisting it would arrive by the 31st, when the lease promotion ends.
I’ve been worried it won’t arrive in time, so I called another Tesla store today to see if I could get a better answer.
They’re telling me the truck is still in production, so there’s no way it’ll be here in time, and there’s not one in inventory I can switch to.
Any suggestions?
This is my first Tesla, and so far I haven’t been very happy with the service.”
What’s interesting here is that at the start of the year, Tesla had so many Cybertrucks on the lot that buyers were told they could pick up their new vehicles only hours after placing an order.
However, in Riley’s case, it’s been 4 weeks, and he still can’t get his truck delivered. Worst of all, he might miss the $6,500 lease credit as a result.
This is definitely not ideal; however, looking at the comments, multiple Cybertruck owners report experiencing protracted wait times to take delivery of their all-electric trucks.
A fellow Cybertruck owner, Jeff Sloan, writes…
“I just ordered my Cybertruck—still no expected delivery date.
The general manager at our Tesla location said that this area, with three showrooms, has placed an order for 35 Cybertrucks and does not yet have a delivery date.
Tesla isn't building them at this point. I don't expect you to get your Cybertruck by the 31st, but I would go to the showroom and speak with the general manager. They have to have a plan B, I hope!”
A second Cybertruck owner, Johnny Meguerditchian, writes…
“I ordered on the 12th. The app showed earlier delivery for other units, but they were all Performance Cybertrucks. It also showed an expected delivery on January 13th.
I called every few days, and they were able to get me into an AWD with a delivery blemish that was repaired today. They also took 4k off the price.”
A third Cybertruck owner, Richard Burns, writes…
“My Cybertruck will take 3 months. That’s what the estimated made-to-order time frame was.”
A lot of Cybertruck buyers appear to be facing long delivery windows; however, one Cybertruck owner, Nate Schierholtz from Arizona, says he ordered his truck expecting it to arrive within a few weeks.
However, Tesla surprised him by saying he could pick it up the next day. Nate says this was an inconvenience because he was out of town and couldn’t take delivery.
Nate writes…
“I ordered my Cybertruck lease on the 22nd, expecting a 3-5 week lead time, and the next day I received a message that it was ready for pickup.
Yikes. I put it on hold because I was out of town for Christmas and just took the hold off today, hoping to pick it up by the 31st.
The dealer said that since I signed the paperwork and am ready to take delivery, they would honor the current $0 down lease term.”
Overall, the status of Cybertruck deliveries appears somewhat inconsistent. However, please let me know what you think in the comments.
