Though Leaving The Lineup, Consumer Reports Continues To Praise The Ford Edge

Sometimes, you do have to wonder how decisions in Detroit are made.

Take the Ford Edge, for example. It is a vehicle that still draws praise from Consumer Reports. It was introduced two decades ago and was a stable seller, so you do have to wonder why it is going away if the crossover still has strong support. Indeed, it is “particularly notable given that the mid-sized crossover/SUV remains a solid choice for many, as it is capable of hauling around families.”

Edge Remains A Solid Choice

This is particularly notable given that the mid-size crossover/SUV remains a solid choice for many, as it’s equally capable of hauling around smaller families and their gear as it serves as a helpful vehicle or even the perfect vessel for tailgating and other purposes. However, as many know, it doesn’t matter how great a vehicle is if it’s unreliable, and poor efficiency can also drain the bank account. But the Edge is not one of those vehicles.

That inspired Consumer Reports to create its list of two- and three-row mid-sized crossovers that scored well in CR’s testing.

In that testing, CR found that the Edge performed better than predicted reliability scores and returned at least 21 mpg. Indeed, each vehicle that scored well in CR’s testing also scored well in its road tests and is equipped with a “bevy of safety features, too boot.”

The Only Problem Is The Footrest

CR found that the Ford Edge “once again met” its standards and “proved to be a nice overall vehicle to drive.” CR calls the Edge a “’ pleasant, well-rounded SUV.’” Further, the consumer organization said it feels more like “an upscale model thanks to its supreme driving manners, as well as its quiet cabin.” FA noted in its conclusion about the Edge, “The only real know CR has found on the edge is its left-side footrest.”

A problem, really? Is this really a problem, the footrest?
