The highly-anticipated 2027 Ram 1500 TRX SRT is now on its way to customers. Ram’s newest super truck is the most powerful one yet, with 777 horsepower and 680 lb.-ft. of torque. The 2027 version boosts the horsepower from the previous TRX, which had 702 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque. As I have reported previously, Stellantis is investing heavily in the Ram truck division. Stellantis has decided to focus on four key brands worldwide. Ram and Jeep are the brands drawing most of the focus in North America. Sales numbers released this week show that the investment into Ram is paying off. Ram 1500 sales jumped 27 percent in the second quarter, helping Stellantis post its fourth consecutive quarterly U.S. gain. Other brands like Jeep, Dodge and Chrysler did not do nearly as well.

The 2027 Ram 1500 TRX SRT

Despite the fluctuating gas prices, the new, improved Ram TRX SRT has been highly anticipated. It is the most powerful production, street-legal, gas, half-ton pickup ever, delivering 777 horsepower and 680 lb.-ft. of torque. Ram has been heavily discounting 2026 trucks this summer, making room for 2027 models. Those discounts, some more than $10,000, have kept sales moving making Ram one of the few profit centers for Stellantis right now.

“The original TRX set the benchmark for performance trucks and bringing it back wasn’t enough, the team had to grind for the last 10th,” said Tim Kuniskis, CEO, Ram brand. “This is pure American performance and ingenuity built with pride by our team at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant in Michigan.”

Unveiled just six months ago, the TRX is the first off-road product to emerge from the relaunched SRT Performance division and the first SRT Ram in two decades. It is the most powerful, production, street-legal, gas, half-ton pickup ever, delivering 777 horsepower and 680 lb.-ft. of torque.

The performance numbers are extraordinary. The 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V-8 is capable of launching the TRX from 0–60 mph in 3.5 seconds. The TRX has a top speed of 118 miles per hour.

TRX evolves with second-gen Bilstein Black Hawk e2 adaptive shocks, Ram Active Terrain Dynamics and 14 inches of maximum suspension travel. The TRX has full-time active four-wheel-drive but offers the driver a full range of choices. The driver can select 4WD Auto, 4WD High (locked) and 4WD Low (locked). The transfer case ensures optimum grip in nearly any weather or terrain condition. The TRX rides on 35-inch tires.

Ram is also offering Hands-free Active Drive Assist (L2+) capability on both its high-performance off-road gas pickups, the RHO and TRX.

Technology highlights include a standard best-in-class 14.5-inch touchscreen, 12.3-inch digital cluster and Head-Up Display with 10-inch field of view.

Ram stunned the truck world when it added affordable luxury to its pickups back in 2019. The TRX is upping that game with even more luxury appointments. The TRX has hand-wrapped leather interior surfaces, heated, ventilated and massaging front seats, class-exclusive dual wireless charging pads and a 19-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system. The TRX even has a leather-wrapped airbag cover with red stitching and a full suede headliner and visors.

The 2027 Ram 1500 SRT TRX matches the RHO’s 11.8 inches of ground clearance. It rides two inches higher and six inches wider than the Ram 1500 Rebel. The increases in width and height are intensified by fender flares. The additions give the TRX an hourglass design and eight-inch wider body overall. The 18-inch Satin Black wheels have the largest brake rotors in the class and finish off the aggressive stance. Drivers can select 18-inch beadlock capable wheels finished in Satin Black with Satin Titanium beadlock rings as an option.

“When we started building this truck, you could feel the pride and excitement from our UAW-represented workforce,” said Chuck Padden, vice president and plant manager, SHAP. “SHAP has been the home of the Ram for nearly a decade and it’s an honor to build the first SRT off-road product since the legendary performance division was relaunched earlier this year.”

More than 2 million Ram 1500 trucks have been assembled at SHAP since the facility began production in 2018, after being converted from a car plant to a truck plant.

Ram Creating Buzz with Other New Trucks

As I recently reported, Ram is also hoping to boost sales with a new Ram 1500 Rumble Bee lineup. The Rumble Bees are described as street trucks or muscle trucks. They are shorter than the traditional Ram 1500s and offer the buyer a choice of three different HEMI V-8 powertrains.

The 2027 Ram Rumble Bee SRT, features the most powerful V-8 engine ever offered in a production pickup truck. It will have an astonishing 777 horsepower from a 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI and a top speed of 170 mph. The SRT’s horsepower equals the 2027 Ram TRX. There are two other HEMI-powered Rumble Bee street trucks, the Rumble Bee and the Rumble Bee 392. All of the Rumble Bees are 13” shorter than the standard Ram 1500 and are Quad Cabs with a short bed.  Ram says the new Rumble Bee lineup appeals to customers who love American muscle, may already have a muscle car and want a pickup that fits their lifestyle.

“There was a time when pickup trucks were considered work vehicles," said Kuniskis. "Today, Ram has a truck for every customer — from the work-ready Tradesman to full-blown luxury in Tungsten. That kind of range makes it hard to predict the second vehicle for a customer. But, for muscle car owners, data proves it’s a pickup and the connection has been staring us in the face since the era reignited almost two decades ago.

"Somehow, the idea of muscle trucks was labeled unnecessary, but since that describes so many products that captivated enthusiasts' hearts, minds and wallets, Ram is going all-in, pushing for the last 10th with a full-range of Rumble Bee muscle trucks.”

“As we enter the second half of the year, we are building on that momentum with a disciplined focus on strengthening our business, improving our product mix, and balancing profitable growth with customer demand,” Stellantis said in a statement.

For now, Stellantis’ focus on Ram is really paying off. It will be interesting to see how well the trucks sell in the third quarter.
