Two Reasons Why the 2022 Ram 1500 Was Named 'Official Winter Pickup Truck of New England'

For the second year in a row, the 2022 Ram 1500 has been named the Official Winter Pickup Truck of New England. The designation carries added weight because New England has some of the harshest weather conditions. Rain, snow, sleet and bitter cold weather are routine driving conditions for several months of the year.

Why the 2022 Ram 1500 Wins the Honor

The New England Motor Press Association is impressed with the Ram 1500’s variety of available engines. The choices allow the driver to choose how powerful their truck needs to be, depending on what they will use it for. Judges are also impressed with the comfortable ride in the Ram.

John Paul, president, New England Motor Press Association says in a statement, “The Ram 1500 prevailed in the hard-fought pickup truck category with its five engine choices, including a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI®, two mild-hybrid versions and available four corner air suspension that not only smooths out the ride, but helps improve fuel economy.”

The Ram 1500 has driven off with the top prize twice in the last two years. The Ram 1500 has received countless other awards for its luxurious interior, phenomenal towing and technology. The Ram 1500 is capable of up to 12,750 pounds of towing and 2,300 pounds of payload. The eTorque 48-volt mild-hybrid system delivers improved fuel efficiency in both V-6 and V-8 configurations. The Ram 1500 offers several different trim packages and custom models straight from the factory. It also offers special off-roading models. An electric version is promised for 2024.

Last year, the Ram 1500 TRX was chosen the winner. At the time, NEMPA president Paul said, "The mighty TRX is designed to handle the harshest conditions, including snow, and satisfies the New England motorist in every detail from its supercharged engine to its 35-inch tires.”
