Ford Motor Company is recalling 295,449 2020-2022 F-Super Duty F250, F350, F450, F550, F600, and 2021-2022 F650 and F750 vehicles. According to information filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, biodiesel deposits may form on the pump drivetrain roller components, which could lead to failure of the high-pressure fuel pump. If the fuel pump fails, the truck will stop moving and that could increase the risk of a crash. Ford says it is not aware of any accidents, fires or injuries because of the high-pressure fuel pump failure.
What is Causing the Recall
Ford says it took a long time to determine what caused the problem because it first attributed the biodiesel build up to people not driving the trucks during the COVID shutdowns. Eventually after the pandemic subsided, Ford conducted teardown analyses of returned parts that showed evidence of aged biodiesel deposits. There are no big warning signs that the high-pressure fuel pump is about to fail, however, drivers might notice that the truck takes a really long time to start. The check engine light might go on.
What Ford Trucks are Affected
According to the Safety Recall Report,
- 149,180 2020 model year F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550 and F-600 vehicles are affected.
- 120,597 2021 model year F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550 and F-600 vehicles are affected.
- 16,361 2022 model year F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550 and F-600 vehicles are affected.

- 3,950 2022 model year F-650 and F-750 vehicles are affected.
How Ford Will Fix the Problem
According to the Safety Recall Report,
Ford will start notifying owners, by mail, January 13, 2025. Owners will be asked to take the trucks to a Ford or Lincoln dealer to have the Powertrain Control Module (PCM)software reflashed. The updated software will increase pump cooling and prevent formation of aged biodiesel deposits. There will be no charge and Ford will reimburse any owners that paid to have their truck fixed under warranty. The Ford number for the recall is 24S78. The NHTSA recall number is 24V-957.

How about the 2019 F-350 Super Duty?? This year should be added to the recall list also! We had to pay over $18,000.00 to replace the fuel system for the EXACT reasons the 2020 and newer models are recalled!! Can I get some help with the expenses we've had to endure over this 2019 fuel system??
