I'm still stuck in the "stone age" with my C4 convertible. Local dealer was going to give me a great trade in price, sent me home with a loaner Stingray hoping it would cement the deal.
It didn't.
Getting back into the C4 felt like driving a go-kart compared. Nope, it absolutely isn't even in the ballpark at an autocross and would be miles behind on a proper circuit. But thats ok. It's a cruiser at heart that's decently capable in the twisties. Sounds great with an aftermarket exhaust, reupholstered the seats to something a bit more modern, replaced the aging rubber seals and off to cruises she goes.
I broke my back a few years ago, so getting in and out is a challenge. Less so if you don't care about looking cool. I sort of just fall into and out of it lol. Comfy once you're in though.
Still leaves dark black lines, still hits triple digits before the end of freeway on ramps, still has zero - absolutely zero storage space. I'd LOVE to weekend this thing to someplace more scenic, buts it's got less storage than a Prowler FFS.
Sounds good, handles good, cheap to maintain and its worth peanuts so it's cheap to insure. Even manages 25+mpg if I keep the loudpedal on the quiet side.
Only thing I wish for is a better soundsystem. Bose in the C4 is pure garbage. Give and take...

I also have an 86 convertible and I love it. Currently working on the water pump as someone before me broke a bolt off in the block. A special bolt that I actually found two at Corvette parts suppliers here in Florida.
