Elon Musk: Redesigned Roadster Will Not Have “Large” Wings, Will Have “Similar Control as Modern Jets,” It Took “Combination of SpaceX & Tesla Technology to Create Something Cooler than the Cybertruck That’s Not Even a Car’

Elon Musk has spilled several new details about the upcoming second-gen Roadster. Musk says the vehicle will have “rocketry” bits and suggested it will have components to maneuver in the air. The Roadster is not a car; & is cooler than the Cybertruck.

In a new interview, Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed several exciting new features about the redesigned Tesla Roadster.

Tesla unveiled the second-generation Roadster back in 2017; at the time, the EV maker said the vehicle would start deliveries in 2020. However, the second-generation Roadster has been delayed for so long that Tesla has decided to completely redesign the vehicle even before the car hits the streets.

Last week, Elon Musk gave us the first details regarding the redesigned Roadster. The vehicle will have a 0 to 60 mph time of under 1 second and has been designed as a collaboration between Tesla and SpaceX.

Musk also added that the vehicle would be unveiled at the end of 2024, and production is slated for 2025, revealing a final hint that the 2nd Generation Roadster unveiling event has the potential to be “the most mind-blowing product demo in history.”

This was exciting; however, Elon Musk's comments naturally raised more questions than they answered.

So far, information regarding the redesigned Roadster has been hard to come by; however, thanks to a new Elon Musk interview with Don Lemon, we have some exciting new information about the vehicle.

What did Elon Musk reveal then? At this point, we want to commend Don Lemon for persistently getting Elon Musk to spill more information about the vehicle.

Elon Musk started his answer regarding the Roadster by reiterating that the vehicle would be designed in collaboration with SpaceX and Tesla. He added, "You can expect some ‘rockety’ stuff there.”

Elon Musk continued to say that “a flying car is not out of the question.” Musk added, “The only way to do something cooler than the Cybertruck is to combine SpaceX and Tesla technology to create something that’s not even a car.”

Don Lemon proceeded to ask Musk if the second-generation Roadster was not a car and what it was. Musk answered, saying, “Something that has not existed before.”

This was exciting; however, what came next blew everything out of the water. Elon Musk asked if the new vehicle would have wings answered, saying “No,” however, Musk then added the caveat, “It’ll not have big wings because big wings will be unwieldy on the road.”

Musk’s answer suggests that even though the redesigned Roadster will not have large wings like an aircraft, the vehicle will still have ways to create lift, perhaps using grid fins or flaps similar to those found on the SpaceX Starship rocket.

If all this wasn’t enough, Elon Musk then played what he refered to as the “Roadster 20 questions” and gave rapid answers reagriding the vehicle based on Don Lemon’s questions.

In this portion, Elon Musk confirmed the second generation Roadster…

  1. Does not have propellers
  2. Will have wheels
  3. It doesn’t exactly have a steering wheel but instead will have a drive-by-wire yoke, essentially kind of like how modern jets are controlled
  4. I don’t think anyone will make anything like the Roadster we will make

During this interview, it appears that Elon Musk has all but confirmed that the Roadster can fly or at least have some aerial capabilities to the vehicle.

This is certainly exciting, and we’ll be sure to keep you posted as we learn more details about the redesigned Roadster. Until then, visit our site, torquenews.com/Tesla, regularly for the latest updates.

So, what do you think? Are you excited to learn that the 2nd Generation Roadster will be even more exciting than the Cybertruck? Also, what is the one Roadster feature that has you most excited? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
