Mercedes reveals more aggressive 2014 C63 AMG "Edition 507" [video]

The new 2014 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG models are becoming even more aggressive with the addition of a newly developed "Edition 507" coupe and sedan with even more power and performance.

The new 2014 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG model range will be even more powerful when it launches around the globe and hits U.S. shores later this year with the addition of a more aggressive newly developed "Edition 507". Mercedes-Benz has released a new video showing the finer details of the new "Edition 507" model. The 507 will be the amount of horsepower the new special edition C63 AMG will be pumping out. The output of the AMG 6.3 liter V8 engine has been increased by 56 hp over the standard C63 AMG coupe and sedan with 451 horsepower. The new 2014 C63 AMG "Edition 507" will be making its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show, which will be opening its doors on March 5, 2013. Before its debut, Mercedes has released details on the new high-performance model.

More horsepower and torque

The 2014 C63 AMG “Edition 507” uses much of the same technology as the SLS AMG and will produce a powerful 507 hp with 450 lb.-ft. of torque. The naturally aspirated AMG V8 features extra goodies like forged pistons, forged connecting rods and a lightweight crankshaft to handle the extra power. The weight savings translates to 6.6 lbs because of the new lightweight internals. The maximum torque has also increased by 7 lb.-ft., jumping from 443 lb.-ft. to 450 lb.-ft. at 5200 rpm.

The C63 AMG "Edition 507" coupe and sedan will launch from 0-60 in 4.1 seconds. This new high-performance model outperforms the existing 451 hp C63 model by three-tenths of a second, and the variants with the AMG Development Package which produce 481 hp by two-tenths of a second. In addition to an increase in top speed to 174 mph. Buyers who choose the new special edition C63 AMG will get a level of performance that’s more aggressive than ever before.

AMG high-performance braking system

In order to stop the new C63 AMG "Edition 507", the performance car comes with a more powerful AMG high-performance braking system featuring compound construction technology. The front axle gets brake discs measuring 14.2 in. x 1.4 in. The advantages of the compound design include higher fatigue strength and lower warping characteristics during high-speed braking. The brake discs are also lighter and the reduced unsprung masses improve the response of the spring/damping elements. The brake discs are ventilated and perforated and use 6-piston aluminum fixed calipers on the front axle and 4-piston fixed calipers on the rear. The brake callipers are painted red and come standard on the special edition C63 AMG.

Exclusive new exterior design features

Mercedes gave the exterior of the C63 AMG "Edition 507" some exclusive new design features. The hood originates from the C63 AMG Coupe Black Series that Mercedes introduced late last year. The openings in the hood help get rid of the extra heat produced by the high-performance V8. The performance car rides on newly designed AMG light-alloy forged wheels with 235/35 R19 front tires and 255/30 R19 rear tires. The AMG light-alloy wheels are available in two variants: titanium grey with a high-sheen finish, or matte black with highsheen rim flanges.

An AMG sports stripe applique in matte graphite grey is located above the rocker panels and sets the "Edition 507" apart from the standard version. Additional exterior treatments include a high-gloss black finish on the spoiler lip on the trunk lid, the exterior mirror housings as well as the surrounds on the radiator grille and daytime running lights. Mercedes is also offering an exclusive designo magno platinum matte finish paint on the high-performance car.

Three different "Edition 507" interiors are available

Mercedes is offering "Edition 507" buyers the choice of three different equipment and options for the interior. A porcelain designo leather/DINAMICA, black designo leather/DINAMICA and black designo leather. The steering wheel and gear shift knob also get some special treatments. The AMG performance steering wheel features a light-colored contrasting stitching and has a 12-o'clock marking. The gear shifter is finished in DINAMICA and features an AMG badge. The AMG instrument cluster is also distinctive with red applications on the dials. The trim is done in high-gloss black piano lacquer and the "Edition 507" badge on the trim on the front passenger side round out the quality, exclusive interior.

Every “Edition 507” buyer will receive a voucher for a driver training session at the AMG Driving Academy. The model's sales release is scheduled to begin on April 8, 2013, while the market launch in Germany will commence in June of this year. The 2014 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG "Edition 507" coupe and sedan will be also be available in the U.S. this summer. Pricing should be announced closer to its global market launch.
