3 new features to look for on the 2015 Mercedes GLA [video]

The all-new 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLA Class is just about to be officially unveiled in Frankfurt. It will come with 3 standard features not normally found in this segment.

The all-new Mercedes-Benz GLA is the latest addition to the German automakers line of SUVs and continues the Mercedes attack in the premium compact segment. New customer groups will be drawn to the new GLA SUV who have never purchased the brand before now. What will make it appealing to a new generation of global buyers?

It starts with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine coupled to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission and available 4MATIC all-wheel drive. The GLA will be athletic and take a younger generation to the places they want to go. That will include commutes to work and also trips to the beach and mountains on the weekends.

The muscular and sporty exterior is attractive but these new buyers will spend most of the time inside the cabin. Mercedes has designed it with a high-quality feel and used high-grade materials. The Stuttgart automaker says all trim surfaces are galvanized in silver-shadow which results in a metallic finish with a "cool-touch" effect. We would expect it to have a fit and finish that Mercedes is known for.

The interior will feature a new modern touch by using matte and glossy 3D geometries (graining) creating an attractive light effect. It will come with aluminum or wood trim and plenty of soft-touch materials inside. Five round air vents in the dashboard are an exclusive GLA feature not found in the other Mercedes premium compacts.

A 3-spoke steering wheel with 12 function keys and a galvanized chrome clasp is standard equipment on the new GLA. Buyers will be able to customize the interior with a choice of seat upholsteries (standard MB-Tex or optional leather) and color combinations. Premium sports seats with integrated head restraints will be available as part of the optional Interior Package.

Another feature on the GLA not found in this segment will be a standard power driver’s seat adjustment with memory function. It’s set into a galvanized surround and controls are arranged on the interior door panels in typical Mercedes style.

The cabin of the all-new 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLA Class will be a place the occupants will want to spend plenty of quality time in. Look for the new GLA to arrive in showrooms in the fall of 2014. Stay tuned as we cover the Frankfurt Auto Show when the new GLA is officially unveiled.
