Mazda’s new Meridian Edition CX-50 five-passenger crossover begins as a Mazda CX-50 2.5 Turbo model and all the features equipped with it. The Meridian Edition package expands the vehicle's capabilities by adding outdoor-focused black metallic 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 225/60/18 all-terrain Falken Tires designed to take on challenging terrain while still feeling at home on the road. Torque News is six months into a long-term test of the Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail tires, and we can attest to their outstanding performance when the pavement ends.

The Meridian Edition has its own look and vibe, apart from the rest of the CX-50 line. It features an all-new headlight garnish, a unique Meridian Edition-branded matte black hood graphic, black wheel locks and lug nuts, and side rocker panels that help protect the CX-50 from outside elements while maintaining the vehicle's rugged appeal. Meridian Edition will be offered in just two color schemes, Polymetal Gray or Zircon Sand exterior paint. The interior is only available in the new Terracotta leather with black interior accents.

Mazda equips all Meridian Edition CX-50s with its outstanding Skyactiv-G 2.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine capable of 256 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque on premium 93 octane fuel, or 227 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque on regular 87 octane fuel. This is coupled to a responsive Skyactiv-Drive six-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode. All-wheel drive is standard on all Mazda crossovers. Meridian Edition also comes with Mazda's Mi-Drive. This drive selector offers Normal, Sport, Off-Road, and Towing driving modes. When properly equipped and in Tow Mode, the CX-50 Meridian can tow up to 3,500 lbs.

Within the CX-50 Meridian Edition trim line are two optional packages names Choice and Apex. These add genuine Mazda accessories like rooftop crossbars and a roof platform for cargo.

Mazda offers the following prices for the Meridian Edition CX-5. Please note that these prices do not include the $1,275 Mazda Destination charge, dealer Doc fees, or added dealer markups.

CX-50 2.5 Turbo Meridian Edition $39,950
Apex Package $1,235
Meridian Choice Package $1,899
Polymetal Gray Metallic Paint $395
Zircon Sand Metallic $395
