Mercedes-Benz Dealer Offering Future Customers Up to $2000

The rich get all the breaks as demonstrated by an offer from a Mercedes-Benz dealership to pay $2000 for BMW, Audi, Lexus, Porsche, Jaguar, Range Rover or Land Rover, Acura, Infiniti or Cadillac owners.

Mercedes-Benz of Greenwich (Conn.) is offering owners of the manufacturers above up to $2000 back when they buy a 2010 or 2011 E-Class or C-Class. You can get up to $1,500 back with the purchase or lease a CLS-Class. People buying or leasing the S-Class can get $1000 back. You're out of luck if you're buying a Sprinter or SLS-Class.

Does is strike anybody else as strange that you get more money on the less-expensive Mercedes-Benz vehicles? After all, $1000 on an S-Class can be less than 1 percent off. Would that make you switch from your BMW or Audi? And, unlike most automotive journalists, I am not going to say, "I would never make the switch" because I will probably never be able to make that statement with a straight face.

The special offer from Mercedes-Benz of Greenwich does not require you to trade in your BMW, Audi, Lexus, Porsche, Jaguar, Range Rover or Land Rover, Acura, Infiniti or Cadillac. So, this isn't an attempt by the dealership to beef up its used car stocks.
