The Lamborghini Gallardo replacement “Cabrera” could pack 600hp

Earlier this month we brought you the early rumors of an upcoming replacement for the Lamborghini Gallardo that could carry the name Cabrera and now we have more rumors suggesting that the next Lamborghini model could start with 600 horsepower.

The Gallardo replacement is tentatively being referred to as the Lamborghini Cabrera and right now, many expect that the Cabrera (or whatever it ends up being named) will be powered by a revamped version of the V10 engine found in the Gallardo. These same rumors suggest that the Cabrera would start off with 600 horsepower so when coupled with the advanced all wheel drive system, the new Lamborghini would like carry the additional naming “LP600-4”. While there has been no solid company information to support these rumors, 600 horsepower would leave plenty of room for the pricier Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 and a re-worked V10 from the Gallardo could easily step up to 600 ponies.

An interesting rumor about the upcoming Lamborghini Cabrera LP600-4 is that it could make this power with the help of a supercharger. The standard Gallardo V10 churns out 570 horsepower so forced induction would very easily help the Cabrera jump up to 600 horsepower and with a little more work, this same blown engine could be tweaked to add slightly higher performance variants as time goes on. Lamborghini loves adding slight amounts of power for special edition trimlines so perhaps this supercharged V10 could give way to items like the Cabrera LP620-4 or LP640-4 as the Aventador travels above the 700 mark.

If the replacement for the Lamborghini Gallardo indeed receives 600 horsepower, it will not be a huge improvement over the current Gallardo but should the company employee the carbon fiber monocoque construction found on the Aventador and Sesto Elemento, the Cabrera could be substantially lighter than the Gallardo, making better use of the power than the outgoing Lambo.
