2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road: Everything to Know

Key features and specs for 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road.

I recently got to have extended “up close and personal” time with the all-new 2024 Tacoma. And what an experience it was.

I found Tacoma to have superior exterior styling, a totally revamped and modern interior, advanced technology, and increased safety.

Plus, it comes in eight different trim levels. There is a 2024 Toyota Tacoma for pretty much everyone, I feel.

2024 Tacoma Trim Levels

Look for Tacoma 2024 to be offered in SR, SR5, TRD PreRunner, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited, Trailhunter, and TRD Pro.

I was able to review five of these grades with the exception of SR, SR5, and TRD Off-Road.

And the one I really wish I could have seen was Tacoma TRD Off-Road.

Even though I did not see this in person, I was at least able to find a picture of it on the Toyota Upcoming Vehicle site.
It did not disappoint.

Looks like one of the available colors for 2024 Tacoma TRD Off-Road is Solar Octane. This was, of course, the TRD Pro color for 2023, so it only makes sense to be offered in trims like TRD Sport and TRD Off-Road this year.

I see a bold and macho hood design, thick black overfenders, a cool black front grille design, 33-inch tires, and plenty more that gets me excited to see this one out on the road.

TRD Off-Road is more advanced and offroad-capable than ever before, too.

Potential buyers can choose from three different powertrain combinations.

The i-FORCE engine, which is a 2.4-liter turbo 4-cylinder, is standard for Tacoma Off-Road. This comes in either 8-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission (278 horsepower / 317 torque for automatic and 270 horsepower / 310 torque for manual).

An i-FORCE MAX is available as well. This utilizes the 2.4-liter turbo, but pairs it with electric motor power. Plan on a whopping 326 horsepower and 465 lb.-ft. torque. This is also paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road Specs

TRD Off-Road now has new Bilstein remote reservoir monotube shocks that make it more capable on the trails than ever before. It also features crawl control, multi-terrain select (now works in 4WD-high and 4WD-low), and electronically activated locking rear differential.

An available front stabilizer bar disconnect feature increases Tacoma articulation by 10 percent versus last year. You can operate this function with the push of a button inside the cabin. Easy stuff my friends.

2024 Tacoma TRD Off-Road Features

Some other features you can look forward to with TRD Off-Road are:

- Composite skid plates
- Available 33-inch tires
- Maximum payload of 1,709 pounds
- 12.3-inch gauge cluster and 8-inch multimedia touchscreen
- Available 14-inch multimedia screen
- Optional JBL audio with 11 speakers and portable JBL FLEX speaker

It's completely lame that Toyota de-tuned the engine mated to manual transmissions. Was this to appease the EPA, or were they just to lazy to make sure the manual gearbox was able to handle a bit more torque?
