2020 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro: Here is What You Can Expect

The 2020 Toyota Tacoma will receive many updates this fall, including the TRD Pro. You are going to like them! This is what we know so far.

When you are the best-selling midsize truck by a large margin, it would be easy to rest on your current success. However, in response to customer feedback, Toyota is making big improvements as they refresh the 2020 Tacoma. The TRD Pro is one truck that’s getting much-needed updates. I think you’re going to be happy.

What about the colors?

2020 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro will be available in 4 different color choices: Super White, Midnight Black Metallic, Magnetic Gray Metallic and Army Green. Gone are the Cavalry Blue seen in the 2018 model and Voodoo Blue from this year’s 2019 Pro. What do you think about Army Green on the upcoming TRD Pro?

How will it Look?

Expect to see welcome exterior updates. For improved visibility and looks, new LED headlamps and LED daytime running lights will be added. Expect Rigid Industries LED fog lights as well. Headlining the exterior changes are new 16-inch wheels. These black TRD wheels will also be lighter, over 4 pounds lighter than last year’s wheels. Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain Kevlar-reinforced tires will allow you to road trip it across the most difficult terrain. A power moonroof is also standard.

You asked for power and you got it!

One of the most common questions I get from Tacoma buyers, “Why can’t I get a power driver’s seat on the Tacoma?” Ask no more, because TRD Pro will come with a 10-way power driver’s seat, including lumbar support. This should improve ride quality for everyone, accommodating both taller and shorter drivers equally.

Technology geeks and enthusiasts will appreciate the upgraded 8-inch multimedia touch-screen. And for the first time, buyers waiting patiently for Android Auto will be rewarded. Android Auto, along with Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa capabilities will be fixtures to make life easier and less distracting inside your Tacoma. JBL premium sound will give you concert-like performance while you drive.

But how will it perform?

Since 2020 Toyota Tacoma is being refreshed as opposed to a full redesign, can you expect the same drive and ride quality? Not a chance. Toyota Racing Development (TRD) has updated the tuning of the front and rear springs, as well as their Fox 2.5-inch internal bypass shocks. This should improve driving both while going down city streets and highways and off-roading across tougher stretches of land.

One of my favorite new features I can’t wait to test is the Panoramic View Monitor + Multi-Terrain Monitor. You can switch between front, side and rear views to improve your visibility and help watch for potential impediments. In addition, if you’ve ever been nervous to drive over obstacles you can’t see all that well, a new “under vehicle terrain view” can help you see what you think you might not see, so to speak. Stumps beware – we are not afraid of you anymore.

The 2020 Toyota Tacoma is scheduled to be distributed to dealerships beginning September.

I wish since Honda Motorcycles and Toyota have a partnership with AMA Moto-Cross that TRD-PRO would come out with a Honda Red Color for 2020 option along with the new upgrades for 2020!! I would BUY ONE.

Love my 2015 TRD Pro MT, Tempted when the redesign came out but couldn't get past the front end and new motor. Only missing option on mine was the SC which you can still get from 3rd party, but 4.0 MT makes it fun!

Believe it or not. The one single thing that's pre wanting me from purchasing the new Tacoma is no disk brakes in the rear. Can't do it. Need that extra braking performance.

I like the safety features, I think that they are necessary for us codgers! We are not as quick as we used to be! It will replace my 2000 Tundra which has been a great truck!
