First 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Raises Incredible $3.6 Million for Charity

The stunning 2023 Chevrolet Corvette with VIN # 001 took center stage at the Barrett-Jackson Auction. All of the money raised will be used to help veterans.

The crowd at the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, was mesmerized as the first 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 70th Anniversary Edition, VIN 001, was sold for a whopping $3.6 million. Every dime of the money raised will go to Operation Homefront, a charity that helps veterans. Operation Homefront helps military families overcome short-term problems so that they do not become long-term chronic issues. The non-profit provides critical financial assistance, housing and family support programs. The sale sets a new record for a charity vehicle sale at Barrett-Jackson. The previous record was set by the first retail 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. That vehicle sold for $3 million.

“We are deeply grateful to our friends at Chevrolet and Barrett-Jackson for choosing Operation Homefront as the beneficiary of this incredible auction,” said Brig. Gen. (ret.) John I. Pray Jr., president and CEO of Operation Homefront. Pray was on the stage during the auction. “The proceeds from the sale of this sensational Corvette Z06 will go a long way to helping us help our military families overcome their financial hardships and have the opportunity to thrive in the communities – our communities – they’ve worked so hard to protect.”

Corvette Buyer Has a History of Charitable Investments

Rick Hendrick, founder and CEO of Hendrick Companies, is the incredibly generous buyer of the very first 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 70th Anniversary Edition. Hendrick did not attend in person, he made his $3.6 purchase over the phone. He is also the one who bought the first 2020 mid-engine Corvette Stingray at Barrett-Jackson for $3 million. Back in January of 2020, Hendrick said. “I am the number one Corvette junkie in the world. Thanks to Chevrolet and Barrett-Jackson, because they always pick charities that are so good and help so many people.”

If you love cars and racing, you should recognize his name. He is THE Rick Hendrick, the owner of the Hendrick Motorsports. His NASCAR teams are top-notch. His drivers have won 14 NASCAR Cup Championships over the years. Hendrick is also known for owning the Hendrick Automotive Group, which reportedly has over 100 franchises and 10,000 employees in 13 states.

2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 70th Anniversary Edition

Chevrolet just announced last week that the 2023 Corvette Z06 will have a special 70th Anniversary Edition. The special versions will only come in two colors. There will be an all-new White Pearl Metallic Tri-coat or Carbon Flash Metallic. Optional stripes are available in complementing colors – Satin Gray with the White Pearl Metallic Tri-coat and Satin Black with the Carbon Flash Metallic.

The Special Edition Corvettes have distinct wheels with commemorative wheel center caps. The wheels will have a dark finish and Edge Red stripe. They will have Edge Red brake calipers. The interior will feature two-tone Ceramic leather GT2 or Competition Sport seats, red stitching throughout, red seatbelts, and sueded microfiber seat inserts and steering wheel. There will be 70th Anniversary Edition logos on the seats and steering wheel. There will also be special exterior badging and Corvette crossflags. Buyers will receive a custom luggage set with red stitching and 70th Anniversary Edition logo.

The 2023 Corvette Z06, offering the highest horsepower naturally-aspirated V-8 to hit the market in any production car, was driven onto the block at the annual auction by retired Corvette Racing legend Oliver Gavin.

“It’s truly a privilege to support our military members and their families through Operation Homefront,” said Steve Hill, Chevrolet vice president. “Proceeds from the first retail 2023 Corvette Z06 will benefit many U.S. military families across the country who have done so much to serve our country.
Chevrolet and Operation Homefront

Since 2017, Chevrolet has been contributing to Operation Homefront. Chevrolet has provided seven Silverado full-size trucks to the organization’s headquarters and six regional offices, and donated funding for services. The $3.6 million raised at Barrett-Jackson will be a huge addition to Chevrolet’s support of Operation Homefront.
