Ram has been dropping lots of hints that the mighty TRX, the apex predator of trucks, will be back for 2026. As I reported this week, Ram is teasing a huge announcement on June 8th, 2025. Dodge is also reporting that a Hellcat HEMI engine will be available later this year. Ram posted a mysterious message in a YouTube short that fans are hoping means the supercharged Ram 1500 TRX with a new HEMI 6.2L is coming back. The short video shows Ram’s leader Tim Kuniskis talking with Heavy D Sparks. Sparks is a content creator and influencer in the truck world under the name Diesel Brothers. The same video was also posted on Sparks’ Instagram. They are interrupted by a man wearing an aviator uniform, who grabs a cookie and compliments Kuniskis’ leather jacket. The tag line says “Fire up the engines—Big things are on the horizon. 06.08.25”.

Why the TRX is so Popular

Ram phased out the Ram 1500 TRX with the huge HEMI engine with a final TRX edition in 2024, as the company started to prepare for EVs. However, demand for EVs has been lackluster across the board for all automakers. I reported in March that Stellantis, Ram’s parent company, is planning to resurrect HEMI production at a Michigan plant starting in August. Stellantis confirmed that it is not only restarting production of the 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 but also restarting production of larger HEMI V-8s as well. Both Dodge and Ram fans were thrilled to hear that the powerful engine was making a return.

Ram dropped the HEMI and replaced it with two versions of the 3.0-liter Hurricane Straight-Six Turbo engine. The 2025 Ram 1500 RHO delivers up to 540-horsepower and 521 lb.-ft. of torque. While the RHO is powerful and gets much better fuel mileage, some drivers still longed for the Ram TRX, with its incredible 702-horsepower engine. It is easy to see why the Ram TRX ruled the truck world. The Ram 1500 TRX was rated at 702 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque with the 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V-8 engine. The TRX had an incredible top speed of 118 mph. The Ram TRX launched from 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds with a quarter mile in 12.9 seconds at 108 mph. You must admit that the numbers are impressive.

A New Version of the Popular HEMI for 2026

As I reported earlier today, in 2026, Dodge is promising that the Durango will be available with a Hellcat HEMI that has an astounding 710-horsepower. Since Dodge and Ram previously shared engines, it sure sounds like the 2026 Ram 1500 could have a TRX version with at least 710 horsepower. Ram isn’t releasing any details yet, but Dodge plans to release more info on the Durango with the Hellcat HEMI later this year. When Dodge phased out the HEMI-powered Challenger with the Hellcat Redeye engine in 2023, that engine produced 797 horsepower. We could see a 2026 Ram 1500 TRX with at least 710 or as much as 797 horsepower.

When We Will Get More Information

Ram is planning to announce something on June 8th, but there is no confirmation that it will be the new TRX. We know it is coming. The only questions are when and how much the new version will be? Fans say it can’t come back soon enough! We’ll have the latest information as soon as we find out.
