The sales of EVs surged just as the federal tax rebates were expiring as people who were interested in buying EVs took advantage of the last-minute deals. Since then, demand has really fallen for EVs, especially electric pickups. Ford has slowed production of its F-150 Lightning. Ram cancelled plans for its pure EV pickup, choosing to pursue a longer-range hybrid version. Chevrolet is trying to stir demand for its 2026 Silverado EV by doing a cross-country road show, hauling holiday cheer nationwide.
Chevy Holiday Magic
Starting Monday, December 1st, 2025, Chevrolet is hitting the road with an event called Chevy Holiday Magic. The show is described as a holiday spectacular that will be powered by a caravan of Chevy Silverado EVs. The traveling show will stop in five different cities. While the display is designed to bring Chevy holiday cheer to different parts of the country, it will also be a chance for Chevrolet to demonstrate how EVs can travel long distances, be effective for towing, as well as be used to provide power to displays or homes.
The Silverado EVs will help light up events at each stop along the way. The displays will include illuminating a holiday tree and a light show. The events will be held in conjunction with local Chevrolet dealers and highlight local choirs singing holiday carols. The festivities will include hot cocoa and smores. The displays will show a number of other Chevrolet vehicles as well as the incredible 1987 Suburban that stars in Chevrolet’s holiday ad this year. Chevrolet will also be working with the Toys for Tots chapter in each city to help spread holiday cheer to families in need.
From San Diego to Detroit, the caravan will travel 2,987 miles, with stops in Dallas, Nashville and Atlanta, to demonstrate the truck’s capability to travel long distances.
The 2026 Chevrolet Silverado
According to Chevy, the Silverado EVs get up to 494 miles of range, and the truck’s offboard power can use the truck’s battery to provide electric power to the truck's 11 outlets. That is based on the Maximum Range Silverado Work Truck.
Chevrolet hasn’t released all of the trim levels that will be available for the 2026 models, however it recently announced a new Trail Boss off-roading package for 2026 Silverado EVs. I would expect we will still see the Work Truck, the LT and the RST. The Silverado EV is also available with the Sidewinder feature that allows the truck to have four-wheel steer, or the ability to crabwalk. That perk has been popular on the HUMMER EVs and is also available on the Cadillac Escalade IQ.
