Chevrolet to Debut 2024 Silverado EV at $39,000 in Early 2023

GM's Mary Barra claims the all-new Silverado EV will out-perform the competition in towing and capability.

Chevrolet announced today that its all-new 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV will debut as a work truck in early 2023. A higher end RST version will debut by later in 2023. An off-road Trail Boss will follow. Both the work truck and RST will offer 400 miles of driving range. Some of the versions will have up to 10,000 pounds of towing capability. GM's Chair and CEO Mary Barra unveiled the truck virtually at CES.

2024 Silverado EV RST Model

Similar to the all-new GMC HUMMER EV Supertruck, the Silverado E will have a special boost option. In the Silverado EV it will be called the Wide Open Watts mode. In the WOW mode, the RST will have 664 horsepower and more than 780 ib-ft of torque. It will have an estimated 0-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds. The EV will have standard DC fast charging, adding up to 100 miles of charge in ten minutes. It will be built at GM’s new FactoryZERO in Detroit. It will use the same Ultium platform that powers the 2022 GMC HUMMER EV and the Cadillac LYRIQ.

“Chevrolet has constantly revolutionized the Silverado franchise to make it the powerhouse it is today,” said Steve Hill, vice president of Chevrolet. “The Ultium Platform is a critical enabler of next-level pickup truck performance for both fleet and retail customers, whether they are currently driving a Silverado or are considering a pickup for the first time.”

“The Ultium Platform enabled our design and engineering teams to start from a clean slate and create a pickup with impressive performance and capability,” said Nichole Kraatz, Silverado EV chief engineer. “The result is a truly impressive testament to the creativity and innovation our teams can bring to market with speed and at scale.”

Work Truck Model Launching Spring of 2023

The work truck will launch first for fleet customers and offer 510 hp and 615 lb-ft of torque. The work truck will offer 8,000 pounds of towing and 1,200 pounds of payload. After initial launch, Chevrolet will introduce a fleet model with up to 20,000 pounds max trailering with the max tow package. Later in the year, Chevrolet will build the RST editions.

"GM Fleet has long provided customers with great products and services, an exceptional customer experience and innovative solutions to meet their unique business needs,” said Ed Peper, vice president of GM Fleet. “We’re excited to launch the Silverado EV, providing customers with a true work-capable truck to help them begin the transition to an electric fleet and assist them in achieving their own sustainability goals.”

The RST First Edition Will Include:

  • Four-wheel steering
  • Automatic Adaptive Air Suspension
  • Multi-Flex Midgate that expands the truck’s cargo capability while maintaining seating for a rear row passenger
  • Available Multi-Flex Tailgate
  • Large, 17-inch-diagonal LCD infotainment screen paired with a neighboring 11-inch-diagonal reconfigurable driver instrument display and a multi-color driver head-up display with a field of view over 14 inches
