CARB Paperwork Reveals Updated 911 GTS Is Coming

It seemed slightly odd that Porsche would introduce a second-generation of the 911 GTS in 2015; less than a year before the updated 911 with turbo flat-six engines would be revealed. But it seems it was meant to be a short production run.

An eagle eye member of the Rennlist forums found paperwork filed by Porsche to the California Air Resources Board (CARB) revealing an updated version of the 911 GTS is coming.

Like the other updated 911 models, the GTS will be getting a 3.0L twin-turbo flat-six engine. Unfortunately, the paperwork doesn't list out horsepower and torque ratings. But considering the previous GTS bumped horsepower from 394 to 424, we wouldn't be surprised if a similar horsepower bump takes place.

What the paperwork does reveal is that the GTS will be available in coupe, cabriolet, and targa variants and with the choice of manual and PDK transmissions. Rear-wheel and all-wheel drive will be available as well. We expect the GTS will also feature a wider body, various styling tweaks, and the PASM active suspension. Expect Porsche to show off the 911 GTS sometime later this year as a 2017 model.
