The 992 Porsche 911 gets another special edition and it commemorates one of the most significant figures in the brand’s history. On December 11, 1935, Ferdinand Alexander Porsche - one of the founder’s grandsons - was born.
Today, Porsche commemorates what would have been its 90th anniversary with a special edition of the most driver-focused 911 in the model’s lineup. The Porsche 911 GT3 90 F.A. While some experts claim that 992 GT3 and GT3 Touring prices are about to fall like never before, some limited-edition models like the Porsche 911 S/T, which commemorates the 1963 original, are certified gold mines for collectors.
So far, the Porsche 991 has the most special-edition 911 variants produced, but the 992 is certainly trying to catch up. There are a few reasons why the 911 GT3 90 F.A. will make collectors go crazy, and I decided to look into what makes it so special.
Commemorating Ferdinand Alexander Porsche and his personal car

The Porsche 911 GT3 90 F.A. benefits from the full Sonderwunsch Manufaktur treatment. The special edition is based on the 992.2 GT3 Touring and features distinctive design elements that harken back to Alexander Porsche’s personal Porsche 930 Turbo, which he drove in the 1980s.

The 911 GT3 90 F.A.’s unique, Paint to Sample exterior finish was created with input from the Porsche family. It references Alexander Porsche’s personal 930 Turbo, which scored an Oak Green metallic exterior paint. The special-edition 911 also features Sport Classic wheels finished in Satin Black, and there is a “90 F.A. Porsche” golden plaque on the decklid grill, and the 1963 Porsche crest design on the center wheel hubs. But that’s not all.
The cabin is inspired by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche’s favorite sports coat.

The interior of the Porsche 911 GT3 90 F.A. Truffle leather seats with a grid-weave fabric pattern for the centerpieces and limestone stitching contribute to a timeless look. The woven pattern contains five different colors, which are black, green, bordeaux, cream, and truffle brown. There is also a special plaque F.A. Porsche’s signature inscribed.
Each of the cars will come with a special Weekender traveller bag from Porsche and a Chronograph 1 watch, which customers can order with a black titanium bracelet or a leather strap. The time piece also features a Super-LumiNova luminescent material that mimics a patina effect. The same design is applied to the GT3’s Sport Chrono package, which comes standard.

Perfection needs no change

The Porsche 911 GT3 90 F.A. carries over the mechanicals of the GT3 Touring. This means that the 4.0-liter, normally-aspirated flat-six engine comes with 502 horsepower at 8,400 RPM, 331 pound-feet at 6,250 RPM, and a redline of 9,000 RPM. Buyers of the limited-edition 911 will have the choice of a seven-speed PDK or a six-speed manual transmission.
I expect the performance will be identical to the GT3 Touring, which means a 0 to 60 mph time of 3.2 seconds (3.7 for the manual) and a top speed of around 194 mph.
Production of the Porsche 911 GT3 90 F.A will be limited to 90 units, one of which will be sent to Mark Porsche, the grandson of Ferdinand Alexander Porsche. Each of the cars will carry a starting MSRP of $387,000 before taxes.
Each of the 911s will undergo a special one-on-one personalization with a customized consultation with each buyer, meaning no two vehicles will be identical. Porsche certainly knows how to make a special-edition 911 even more special, and this one will definitely be a collector’s item.
Personally, I just want to see them driven like they are meant to - flat out. What’s your take on the latest special-edition Porsche 911? If money is no object, would you get one?
