A Tesla Cybertruck Owner is Thinking About Buying a Second Vehicle but Says, "Every Other Truck Pales in Comparison to The Cybertruck" – He Adds, “We’ll Know the Cybertruck is The Greatest Vehicle Ever Conceived."

Abilisk, a Cybertruck owner from Dallas, Texas, says he’s considering buying a second electric truck.

The main reason Abilisk wants a second truck is because he’s worried his Cybertruck might be vandalized if he drives it into a big city.

But even though his primary reason for getting a second truck is fear of taking the Cybertruck into the city, Abilisk is actually leaning toward buying another Cybertruck.

His thought process is that if he has two Cybertrucks and one gets vandalized, he can drive the other until the first one is fixed.

Abilisk mentions he considered the idea of getting a different truck besides the Cybertruck, but after going through the list of all available electric trucks, he states that none of the offerings from legacy automakers are compelling.

The top-of-the-line quad-motor Rivian R1T is the only electric truck he finds acceptable. Still, Abilisk says it will be difficult to justify paying more for the Rivian, which he considers less impressive than his current top-of-the-line tri-motor Cybertruck.

Abilisk not only finds the Cybertruck more impressive than the Rivian but also claims it is the greatest vehicle ever conceived.

Now, faced with the possibility of having to occasionally drive a vehicle other than a Cybertruck, the frustrated Cybertruck owner shared his dilemma on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum.

He writes…

“The Search for 2nd Place

Obviously, we all know the Cybertruck is the greatest vehicle ever conceived—that goes without saying. But there are two types of trucks: primary trucks and secondary trucks.

Your primary? You drive that when you want to have fun and do so safely. Your secondary? That’s what you drive when entering risky territory.

Unfortunately, Cybertruck faces hatred and jealousy wherever it goes, especially in big cities. While we shouldn’t have to worry about such things, some of us might be forced to drive something else or risk our trucks being vandalized.

I’ve spent a good part of the past week exploring other EV trucks as secondary options. If you’re offended by this, read the title and that first sentence again.

Here’s a brief comparison of the top trims of the EV trucks available today, starting with our beloved Cybertruck. I’ll compare prices, ranges, accelerations, top speeds, horsepower, torque, towing capacities, payload capacities, and other key specifications.

Let’s begin…

1. Tesla Cybertruck Cyberbeast

- $99,990

- 320 miles range (estimate)

- 2.6 seconds 0-60 mph

- 130 mph top speed

- 845 horsepower

- 864 lb-ft torque

- 11,000 lbs towing capacity

- 2,500 lbs payload capacity

2. Ford F-150 Lightning Platinum

- $84,995

- 300 miles range (estimate)

- 4.0 seconds 0-60 mph

- 110 mph top speed

- 580 horsepower

- 775 lb-ft torque

- 8,500 lbs towing capacity

3. Chevy Silverado EV First-Edition RST

- $96,495

- 440 miles range (estimate)

- 4.1 seconds 0-60 mph

- 113 mph top speed

- 754 horsepower

- 785 lb-ft torque

- 10,000 lbs towing capacity

4. GMC Sierra EV Denali Max Range

- $100,605

- 478 miles range (estimate)

- 4.5 seconds 0-60 mph

- 112 mph top speed

- 760 horsepower

- 785 lb-ft torque

- 10,000 lbs towing capacity

5. GMC Hummer EV Pickup Truck 3X

- $107,145

- 367 miles range (estimate)

- 3.0 seconds 0-60 mph

- 112 mph top speed

- 1,000 horsepower

- 400 lb-ft torque

- 12,000 lbs towing capacity

6. Rivian R1T Quad

- $115,990

- 374 miles range (estimate)

- 2.5 seconds 0-60 mph

- 130 mph top speed

- 1,025 horsepower

- 1,198 lb-ft torque

- 11,000 lbs towing capacity

Again, these are the top trims—other trims are worse. Only the R1T is close to the Cybertruck. It seems legacy automakers aren’t keeping up (shocker).

Rivian could be a decent choice for a secondary truck, but honestly, spending that much for a lesser truck isn’t worth it.

I could get a second Cybertruck and write it off as a loss. While getting a second Cybertruck increases the risk of damage, you’ll still have your main one for when it matters.

Having a secondary truck ensures both are ready for whatever comes up. Perhaps when the Slate customizable EV is released, this will make more sense. Though I’d argue a Model Y is far more capable for “truck stuff” than a Slate. Slate is just sad and pathetic.”

This is definitely a very strong pro-Cybertruck sentiment; however, looking at the comments, fellow Cybertruck owners agreed that Abilisk should either get another Cybertruck or another Tesla, but not any other vehicle from a different brand.

A fellow Cybertruck owner, Gus, writes…

“Just buy a second Cybertruck as a beater.”

A fellow Cybertruck owner, Ace, recommends choosing a Tesla Model X as a truck replacement instead of purchasing another truck from a non-Tesla brand.

Ace writes…

“Our second car is a Tesla Model X, and while it might sound crazy, when the seats are laid flat inside, it’s practically like a truck. I know that Tesla hate extends to the Model X as well, but for some reason, it seems to be mostly invisible in public.

If we want to go downtown anonymously, that’s what we take. We considered each of the options above, but in the end, none of them offered the Tesla supercharging network (at least not in an affordable, organic way), and none of them included FSD. So, no, thank you. Those are both essentials for us.

In addition, we got our first Model X in 2016, and what I’m trying to say is that there are plenty of reasonably priced, low-mileage Tesla Model Xs that are just as advanced technically, mostly due to Tesla’s upgrade approach. That makes them the best value proposition among all the options, in my opinion.

In fact, in some ways, the Model X even has certain advantages over our Cybertruck. The Model X is the ultimate drop-off and pickup machine, thanks to powered control of every part of the vehicle and the extreme utility of the Falcon Wing doors.”

A third Cybertruck owner, Tashi, says he wants another truck, but he’ll only consider a smaller version of his current Cybertruck.

Tashi writes…

“All I want is a smaller Cybertruck-I don't care about others' reactions or negativity. Both of my cars are Teslas, and during the peak of the 'hate hype,' neighbors, friends, and coworkers warned me. I told them that everything is temporary—this, too, will pass. In the end, we will all fade from this world—so I choose to enjoy my life and let everything else pass.”

Overall, looking at the comments, most Cybertruck owners seem unwilling to consider any other vehicle other than a Cybertruck.

It's kind of odd that he neglects to mention that the towing range of the Cyber truck is only 90 mi or that the suspension isn't as capable as a basic Jeep Wrangler or that you can't sideload the Cyber truck or that the truck bed is angled where the seats come into it. So if you stack drywall it'll point out the back of your vehicle

Must be nice to consider buying another 100K truck as a "beater". Really lets you know how out of touch Tesla bros are.

The greatest pickup truck ever: square body Chevy with LS V8. No electronics. No pointless gadgets. No touch screens. No complicated systems.

Sorry, It's not jealousy. Those things are the biggest joke ever. Butt ugly and fall apart. Not to mention the lunatic that runs the company. They remind me of a Yugo. Why drive something that people laugh at. I'd sooner have an Aztec.

The cyber truck is the best compared to what? I just can't believe or understand why people make fools of themselves to get notoriety or clicks. Voted worst truck ever.

With all the bad stuff people have had happen to these trucks, one is pushing their luck with a second.
