A Tesla Cybertruck Owner Says He Doesn’t Drive His Truck If It’s Raining – Adds “My Wife Has to Go to The Doctor’s & I Don’t Know How to Tell Her She Shouldn’t Take The Cybertruck Because It’s Raining”

A Cybertruck owner shares he’s in a dilemma. Usually, he doesn’t drive his truck when it’s raining, but today his wife needs to go to the doctor’s and wants to take the truck. He is struggling to tell her not to drive the Cybertruck because of the rain.

William, a Cybertruck owner from Florida, says he doesn’t drive his Cybertruck if it's raining outside or if it has rained recently.

William explains that the main reason he avoids taking his truck out during rain is that it’s hard to keep clean.

He mentions that every time he drives his Cybertruck in the rain, he has to wash it and use Windex to thoroughly clean it.

So far, William has been sticking to the "no driving the Cybertruck when it's raining" rule; however, today he finds himself in an awkward position because his wife wants to drive the truck, and she has a doctor’s appointment to go to.

Since it’s raining, William wishes his wife wouldn’t take the Cybertruck outside, but he also feels it's silly to tell her not to drive the truck because it’s raining.

The conflicted Cybertruck owner shared his story on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum.

He writes…

“I try not to leave the house if it’s going to rain or after a rain. Keeping the water spots off the Cybertruck is such a hassle.

Every time it rains, I have to fully wash the truck and Windex it.

My son’s mom needs to go to the doctor this afternoon, and she usually takes the truck.

I’ve had to write and rewrite the text to her three times because I feel silly saying, "I’d rather she doesn’t drive the Cybertruck because of the rain.”

Not driving a Cybertruck because it’s raining outside is definitely an interesting choice; however, looking at the comments, other Cybertruck owners seem divided on whether it’s necessary to keep the truck clean all the time.

A fellow Cybertruck owner, Ken, writes…

“Ok, something to think about,

I bought this really cool truck, and it's manly, tough, and the future, but honey, don’t get it wet! Oh, please wash it when you get back!

If that goes down, you may come to know what a Prius feels like!”

Another Cybertruck owner, Yohst from California, says…

“It’s a truck.

I use it and it gets dirty.

Son steps in and says, “Truck’s dirty.”

I say “yup”

We drive away and go do stuff….”

A third Cybertruck owner, Chris from Maryland, writes…

“I have washed the truck maybe three times this year, and that was only when it gets really dirty or after the snowstorms we had earlier in the year, to remove the salt.

I’ve come to prefer it a bit dirty, to be honest. I used to keep it spotless when I first got it, but I’ve grown to embrace the grime.”

Most Cybertruck owners say that William shouldn’t worry too much about keeping his Cybertruck spotless.

However, some Cybertruck owners came to William’s defense, saying they understand his struggles to keep his truck clean.

A fellow Cybertruck owner from Colorado writes…

“I agree with William. I grew up in an area where the condition of your vehicle directly reflects on you. I wash my vehicles more than anyone I know.

Wrap your truck in PPF — it's so easy to clean after a rain. Just a quick wipe down, most of the time. Don’t even need to get out the hose.”

A second Cybertruck owner from Texas seconds this sentiment, writing…

“I understand your pain. At least you don’t have to take your vehicle to construction sites. I hate the sound of mud flinging off the wheels and hitting the side of my truck.

The project that prompted this thought was a muddy pit. Even though the site required an on-site “car wash,” also known as a spray-down, because of the amount of mud, you’d still find mud between the mat and the road after driving off.

For that project, I just ran my truck through the touchless car wash about twice a week.

I know that’s an extreme example, but I also get annoyed when my truck is dirty. Applying ceramic coating helps keep the vehicle clean for longer periods.”

A third Cybertruck owner, Preston from South Carolin, says…

“I just take it through a touchless car wash after the rain stops. I’ll also try to dry off the bumpers and tailgate if I get a chance, so water spots don’t form from air drying.

After that, it’s pretty darn clean. However, it worked much better after doing a full Bar Keepers Friend polish. That made a huge difference.”

Overall, looking at the comments, some Cybertruck owners seem concerned about keeping the truck spotless, while others say it’s a truck and is supposed to get dirty.

I 100% agree with not only no rain but no inclement weather conditions that cause the excess debris. I like the stainless steel look, i keep my Cybertruck Super Clean and shiny at all times. The shape and the cute ugly of the truck is what I love about it! I drive with it sitting low and clean!

Lazy enough not to wash the truck? Get one of those unlimited wash services. And stop using kitchen cleaners on your vehicle. This is why it it becomes so dirty after a rain.
You stripped the surface protectants.
Some say it looks like a fridge but Windex on it ?? Really ??!!

I don't appreciate the comment about the Prius. I've been driving a Prius for years. It's a fantastic car. I also have a 2001 Dodge Ram Diesel pickup truck that I would wager is, to this day, a better truck than the cyber"truck". These people are pathetic.

Cybercuck owners are the types who want to look like men 🤏 but can't even change a tire or pump their own gas

What an assi9 vehicle. The only Tesla designed by Musk is an absolute disaster. So much for Musk's "engineering brilliance."

Is this actually an article? Don't bother people with a trash vehicle being babied for no reason. Worst news story I've ever seen. What's next? My cat doesn't like bacon? Or maybe one about the speed grass grows? Find a story, not some nonsense

So true, all this click bait and no story worth a glance at. People are out here just trying to put food on the table and keep the lights on and the best we can get is " i hate getting water spots on my cyber truck" like really, I guess it's the modern " let them eat cake".

Oh it is even worse.
This is either an AI written article and/or just made up.

There is a section in the article that is written as if it is a direct quote and it has him mentioning his wife as "my son's mom". There is no person whom would describe their significant other as their child's mom, that is so convoluted

A-a-ron (not verified)    June 27, 2025 - 7:20PM

Holy crap. It's a truck. Drive it like one. True, it's a "truck" that makes you look like a gullible, no taste fool, but a truck non the less. It better be able to take rain. Pussy.

MB (not verified)    June 27, 2025 - 7:52PM

Cybertruck owner was worried over appearance and how it looked and reflected on him. Believe me, if you're driving a Cybertruck, we already know you're an narcissistic idiot who thinks he's saving the world.

Michael Gibbons (not verified)    June 28, 2025 - 10:19AM

What's wrong with the cyber truck that it can't handle a little rain? Is it made of cardboard. If you're simply obsessed with no rain spots, do the world a favor and don't reproduce.l

Matthew (not verified)    June 28, 2025 - 1:00PM

Stainless steel needs a stainless steel cleaner or liquid to keep it clean..spray it down rub it in and there will be no spots to worry about as the water will bead up and roll off.only have to apply every so often.

Calvin (not verified)    June 28, 2025 - 6:20PM

I am wondering what is more important to this gentleman, is it the thought of the truck getting rained on and getting a bit of dirt on it or the well being of his wife, it appears that he has a bit of cowardice if he lacks the courage to approach his wife about his pettiness concerning his truck getting rained on, please keep in mind we came in this world naked and we will leave everything behind when our eyes close in death. So he and his wife should enjoy the use of the truck rain or shine at every opportunity, tomorrow is not promised to anyone, not even the next minute

Sidney (not verified)    June 28, 2025 - 6:42PM

It's a shame that all these Cyber Truck owners have only one car in the family. 2 things you can do, perhaps keep the truck very dirty on rainy days or have a friend call you on a rainy day and within earshot of your wife, yell emphatically that under no circumstances will you drive your cyber truck on a rainy day. Problem 3/4 solved.

Chris (not verified)    June 29, 2025 - 7:25AM

The old “I want a truck but don’t want to get it dirty guy.” At least you have a car. Why do t you get your maid to wash it for you?

Barb (not verified)    June 29, 2025 - 10:59AM

He lives in Florida and doesn't drive it in the rain? What does he do when he's out and those random and frequent cloud bursts come?

Alexander Justice (not verified)    June 29, 2025 - 12:22PM

I just think it's great that after half a century of science doing it's utmost to make the gasoline powered internal combustion engine as efficient as possible, we have gone back to using coal to power our vehicles.
