William, a Cybertruck owner from Florida, says he doesn’t drive his Cybertruck if it's raining outside or if it has rained recently.
William explains that the main reason he avoids taking his truck out during rain is that it’s hard to keep clean.
He mentions that every time he drives his Cybertruck in the rain, he has to wash it and use Windex to thoroughly clean it.
So far, William has been sticking to the "no driving the Cybertruck when it's raining" rule; however, today he finds himself in an awkward position because his wife wants to drive the truck, and she has a doctor’s appointment to go to.
Since it’s raining, William wishes his wife wouldn’t take the Cybertruck outside, but he also feels it's silly to tell her not to drive the truck because it’s raining.
The conflicted Cybertruck owner shared his story on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum.
He writes…
“I try not to leave the house if it’s going to rain or after a rain. Keeping the water spots off the Cybertruck is such a hassle.
Every time it rains, I have to fully wash the truck and Windex it.
My son’s mom needs to go to the doctor this afternoon, and she usually takes the truck.
I’ve had to write and rewrite the text to her three times because I feel silly saying, "I’d rather she doesn’t drive the Cybertruck because of the rain.”
Not driving a Cybertruck because it’s raining outside is definitely an interesting choice; however, looking at the comments, other Cybertruck owners seem divided on whether it’s necessary to keep the truck clean all the time.
A fellow Cybertruck owner, Ken, writes…
“Ok, something to think about,
I bought this really cool truck, and it's manly, tough, and the future, but honey, don’t get it wet! Oh, please wash it when you get back!
If that goes down, you may come to know what a Prius feels like!”
Another Cybertruck owner, Yohst from California, says…
“It’s a truck.
I use it and it gets dirty.
Son steps in and says, “Truck’s dirty.”
I say “yup”
We drive away and go do stuff….”
A third Cybertruck owner, Chris from Maryland, writes…
“I have washed the truck maybe three times this year, and that was only when it gets really dirty or after the snowstorms we had earlier in the year, to remove the salt.
I’ve come to prefer it a bit dirty, to be honest. I used to keep it spotless when I first got it, but I’ve grown to embrace the grime.”
Most Cybertruck owners say that William shouldn’t worry too much about keeping his Cybertruck spotless.
However, some Cybertruck owners came to William’s defense, saying they understand his struggles to keep his truck clean.
A fellow Cybertruck owner from Colorado writes…
“I agree with William. I grew up in an area where the condition of your vehicle directly reflects on you. I wash my vehicles more than anyone I know.
Wrap your truck in PPF — it's so easy to clean after a rain. Just a quick wipe down, most of the time. Don’t even need to get out the hose.”
A second Cybertruck owner from Texas seconds this sentiment, writing…
“I understand your pain. At least you don’t have to take your vehicle to construction sites. I hate the sound of mud flinging off the wheels and hitting the side of my truck.
The project that prompted this thought was a muddy pit. Even though the site required an on-site “car wash,” also known as a spray-down, because of the amount of mud, you’d still find mud between the mat and the road after driving off.
For that project, I just ran my truck through the touchless car wash about twice a week.
I know that’s an extreme example, but I also get annoyed when my truck is dirty. Applying ceramic coating helps keep the vehicle clean for longer periods.”
A third Cybertruck owner, Preston from South Carolin, says…
“I just take it through a touchless car wash after the rain stops. I’ll also try to dry off the bumpers and tailgate if I get a chance, so water spots don’t form from air drying.
After that, it’s pretty darn clean. However, it worked much better after doing a full Bar Keepers Friend polish. That made a huge difference.”
Overall, looking at the comments, some Cybertruck owners seem concerned about keeping the truck spotless, while others say it’s a truck and is supposed to get dirty.

That "Ken" person is really out of touch with reality. A cybertruck is not a really cool truck. I personally would classify it under the suv category for lack of useful bed space. They're also not manly or though. I'm speaking from personal experience. My brother-in-law had one, and he wanted to prove that it could hold it's own going trail riding. So, he came with myself and a few friends. I spent most of the day pulling him out of various mud hole in my Ram 4x4 diesel. Finally we got to the end of the trail. The only thing standing in the way of us and pavement is a 50ft long 3ft deep river crossing. He crossed directly behind me for obvious reasons. I'm surprised to say that he actually made it across. Then immediately after crossing he opens up his door, jumps out and starts screaming "somethings wrong! Somethings really wrong!" I go over to the "truck" to assess the situation, and the inside was lit up like Times Square a midnight on New Years Eve. Then everything went dark and the cybertruck was done. He now drives a gas powered Ram 4x4.

Maybe if he wouldn't have wasted $100,000 + on a dumb truck, he could have bought 2 cars for him and his wife that he could drive whenever he wanted, in any kind of weather.

Happy wife, happy life. I’m just saying. Be prepared to wash it when she gets back. It may even stop raining until she gets back.
