A Cybertruck owner from California reports he has been repeatedly targeted and harassed by the same police officer in San Diego for driving a Cybertruck.

The frustrated Cybertruck owner shared his story on the Tesla Cybertruck group on Facebook.

He writes…

🚨 Looking for Advice – Targeted by the Same Officer Twice in One Week (San Diego)

Hey everyone,

I need some advice from anyone experienced in dealing with traffic enforcement, civil rights, or police misconduct in California.

Here’s what happened:

🔹 First incident (June 23, 2025) – I was driving near Grossmont Center when I saw a California Highway Patrol officer clearly trying to pull over another car in front of me.

As that car entered a shopping plaza, I continued straight. The officer abandoned the first car and suddenly pulled me over instead, claiming I was speeding “just like the other driver” – but he only gave me a ticket for my front window tint.

🔹 Second incident (July 2, 2025) – I was in the same area. I saw the same officer a few cars ahead. He pulled over to the shoulder, let me pass, then re-entered traffic and pulled me over again – this time for speeding. I recorded both incidents with my dashcam.

⚠️ I drive a Cybertruck, which stands out, and I’m starting to feel targeted or profiled – especially since this officer entirely switched focus from one driver to me in the first case and clearly waited for me in the second.

I’m already working with a traffic lawyer to handle the tickets, but I want to go beyond just fighting them.

I want to formally report this officer or file a complaint for selective enforcement or harassment.

Has anyone had a similar experience? Do you have any advice on how to escalate this issue or whom to contact regarding police misconduct in California?

Any assistance would be appreciated — even recommendations for good civil rights lawyers.

Thanks in advance.”

Below his post, the Cybertruck owner shared two videos showing both times he was pulled over and ticketed by the same police officer.

The first video shows a police officer driving with his siren on, seemingly trying to pull over a sedan in front of him.

However, once the sedan enters the parking lot, the officer abandons the chase and begins to follow the Cybertruck.

In the second video, the same police vehicle is stopped on the highway shoulder. As the Cybertruck passes, the officer turns on his siren and pulls the driver over.

From these videos alone, it’s hard to determine whether the owner is being targeted outright or if it’s just a coincidence that he keeps running into the same officer who issued him a ticket.

However, surprisingly, looking at the comments, most Cybertruck owners sided with the police officer.

A fellow Cybertruck owner, Ramon Youkhanna, writes…

“Were you speeding? Were your windows tinted? If either is yes, how’s that the cop's fault?

You bought a truck that attracts attention. Mission accomplished.”

Another Cybertruck owner, Grace Cruz, notes that the same officer pulling over someone multiple times is not unusual, as police officers typically work in the same area.

Grace writes…

“They’re assigned to certain areas, so it’s not unusual to be pulled over by the same officer.

In the first incident, you seem to be following close behind him. You won’t answer if you were speeding or not, and yes, it does matter.

I don’t see any misconduct on the officer’s part.”

A third Cybertruck owner, Jacob Deedz from Canada, recommends…

“Rewrite your post:

(I was speeding and have a windshield tinted, but I need an option to go after highway patrol because I feel targeted.)”

Overall, most Cybertruck owners don’t seem to think these incidents amount to harassment.
