Tesla Delivers Over 100 Cybertrucks to Service Centers Across the US as It Readies a 1st of Its Kind Delivery Event

Tesla reached an important milestone producing 1st 100 Cybertrucks at Giga Texas. Tesla is shipping these vehicles to service centers across the US. The EV maker plans to simultaneously deliver the trucks at multiple locations during the delivery event.

Tesla initially unveiled the Cybertruck back in 2019. At the time, the EV maker said deliveries are slated to begin by the end of 2021. However, 2021 came and went without any sign of the Cybertruck; 2022 followed and, still no Cybertruck but, now, after a two-year delay, Tesla appears ready to start delivering the futuristic truck this year.

Currently, Tesla is in the process of starting volume production of the Cybertruck with Elon Musk recently announcing that the EV maker is now building production candidate Cybertrucks at its Austin, Texas plant.

Building “production candidate” vehicles is the last step before starting volume production of a vehicle, so this was certainly exciting news.

However, the picture of the Cybertruck Musk shared appears to have several fit and finish issues prompting the Tesla CEO to issue a company-wide email to employees urging them to improve the build precision of every component of the vehicle to sub 10 microns level.

Musk's reasoning for requiring extremely high precision in building the Cybertruck is the fact that the vehicle is built mostly out of shiny metal and as a result any defect stands out “like a sore thumb.” Musk says Tesla should be able to achieve this high precision rate because LEGO and soda cans are able to hit these levels of consistency and “they are very low-cost products.”

However, as Tesla employees work on the initial struggles of building a brand-new car, the EV maker has also been ramping production up to significant numbers. Currently, Tesla is producing around 5 to 10 Cybertrucks a day.

The daily production numbers suggest Tesla is producing the Cybertruck at least partially on the final production line. When fully ramped, Tesla is expected to produce 375,000 Cybertrucks a year, however, having maintained a production rate of 5 to 10 vehicles a day for a couple of weeks now, currently, Tesla has reached a small but important milestone of producing 100 Cybertrucks.

Reaching this milestone, plus the fact that Tesla has already started sending out invites to a Cybertruck delivery event in Austin Texas plus the fact that first attendees have already started taking their spots, suggests that deliveries are imminent.

However, despite Tesla announcing the delivery event will be held in Austin, Texas, the EV maker nonetheless has been shipping out all the Cybertrucks built at the plant. At this time, it has become somewhat commonplace to spot trucks loaded with Cybertrucks all over the US.

There are several wild theories trying to explain why Tesla is shipping the Cybertrucks to several locations across the country. However, Spotted_model on X who has talked to a couple of Tesla insiders has what might be the most compelling reason to explain Tesla’s action.

Spotted_model in an X thread explained, “Most of these trucks are being put on car carriers to be distributed not to all Tesla stores, but to a few hand-picked based on several factors (geography, demand, and visibility).”

Following Spotted_model wrote “These trucks are arriving at the designated service centers and are unloading behind closed doors late at night. A live-streamed "delivery event" will take place in Austin. But this one is different. Either during the event or right after, service centers all over the country will simultaneously deliver the 5 or 6 trucks they've been allocated.”

This is certainly exciting news and with Tesla now already having produced the first 100 Cybertrucks, it suggests that the trucks will be simultaneously delivered to a significant number of reservation holders across the country at the same time.

In addition to sharing this information, Spotted_model also suggests that Tesla has already picked out the customers that will receive the first vehicle based on several factors. Spotted_model also added that Tesla has already contacted these individuals and has advised them to prepare for delivery and that the truck will be the high-end tri-motor version and that it will cost around mid to high seventy thousand dollars.

Although exciting, Spotted_model’s claims are still from unnamed sources, as a result, it is difficult to say with any certainty that the X account’s information is accurate, however, as Tesla produces more and more Cybertrucks and ships them across the country Spotted_model’s leak is starting to gain credibility.

Currently, this is all the information we’ve concerning the Cybertruck. However, we’ll be sure to keep you posted when we learn more about Tesla’s plans. Until then, make sure to visit our site torquenews.com/Tesla regularly for the latest updates.

So what do you think? Excited to learn that Tesla has produced and is delivering the first 100 Cybertrucks to service centers? Also, do you think the truck will live up to the hype? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
