Every Time I Open the Door on My 2024 Ford Bronco, When It Rains Or Snows, the Inside Gets Soaking Wet, Why Is My Bronco Made This Way?

Does the Ford Bronco have a serious leaking issue? That's what Jordyn says about her 2024 Ford Bronco. When she opens the door, water pours in if it's raining or snowing. Is this a design flaw that Ford needs to address with the Bronco?

I can't believe my Ford Bronco leaks water every time it rains or snows.

That's what Jordyn Morris (@jordynmorris) says in her recent TikTok video, and others seem to agree. Her 2024 Ford Bronco leaks like a sieve every time she opens the door if snow is melting off the roof or it rains.

Jordyn says,

"Here is the point of view from my 2024 Ford Bronco." I hear her saying, "There's water dripping into my Bronco because it snowed, and it's soaking the seat and the floorboard. Is this just a Bronco thing?"

Imagine buying a new Ford Bronco. If you live in snow country, that's why you bought the SUV in the first place. When it snows, your Bronco isn't sitting in the garage; you are out playing in the white stuff.

However, when you pull the new vehicle inside your garage after a day of driving in the snow, you open your door, water pours in, drips on the seat, soaking the door sill, and eventually soaking your floorboard.

Of course, you wouldn't be happy with your new SUV toy. Do all vehicles leak like this, or is it a design flaw on the 2024 Ford Bronco?

Does the Ford Bronco Have a Design Flaw?

Some Ford Bronco models have reported issues with water leaks, particularly around the door seals, A-pillars, and windshield header, which can cause water to enter the interior during rain or snow, indicating a potential design flaw in certain areas of the vehicle.

However, not all Broncos experience this issue, and Ford has addressed some of these concerns with updates and recalls depending on the model year.

A report from Motor1 says that some Bronco owners with a soft top report snow gets into the interior when it snows.

However, Jordyn's 2024 Bronco is a hard top, and it appears the "drip rail", designed to keep water out and funnel the water away, is not working as intended on the SUV.

In the comments, other Bronco owners share the same frustrating experience.

  • Jay expresses his disappointment, "Yep. Traded mine in for an Acura MDX and haven't regretted it, although doing so was expensive."
  • pickle-rick says, It was nice when vehicles had drip rails.
  • Mrs.DLR - My 2022 Ford Bronco leaks at the car wash. But I still love it.
  • Brenden - Jeeps do the same with a drip rail.
  • Mason - I knew it was a Bronco right away. I have one, too, that does the same thing.
  • "I have a 24 Bronco as a loaner from the dealership while my car gets fixed. The lady said, "You'll want to get the car after having it. No, thanks, I do not, and not for 70k."
  • ezequielfuentes112 - I've worked on the first-generation Broncos with drip rails. it's sad a new-century Bronco 40 or 60k+; you can't even get the option to keep rain from your inner cab.

Can Owners Add a Drip Rail?

ALTBronco, on the Bronco6g forum, says, "Drip is an understatement in ours. I was leaving a gas station two weeks ago and saw a guy in an FSB, so I pulled up to chat. It was raining well, and I had my window down to talk to him. I think I might have stayed dryer if I had stood in the rain. It rolled inside the window the entire time. A drip rail would be a great idea, but I don't see any way to "add" one that wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb."

Final Thoughts and a Question For Bronco Owners

It appears to be a common problem for the new-generation Ford Bronco. Ford designed the roof to be narrower than the vehicle's body. So, it's not going away.

I've actually seen this on many vehicles, old and new.

A design oversight? Maybe.
It is especially annoying on Hyundais (I'm on my second one). Not a dealbreaker for me, personally, but a nuisance nonetheless.

I’ve had my new 2024 Ford Bronco for three weeks and have noticed water leaks also during and after rain when the rear doors are opened. When I purchased the car I was offered a warranty that states that for the duration of the car loan, Ford will repair anything that goes wrong. I’m calling the dealer for a service appointment.

I purchased my Big Bend 4 door bronco 3 years ago and yes each and everytime it rains I get soaked opening the door or window due to the steady stream of water coming in. I wish I had rain guards installed but they tell me they can't be ordered for that model. Snow does the same thing when we have snow.
