And So It Begins, I Picked up My 2025 Toyota Tacoma Yesterday, It Has 30 Miles On It, and It’s About to Be Torn Apart

How long did it take you to add mods to your Toyota Tacoma pickup? 30 miles in?

Jevon Truex is wasting no time. He just got his hands on a 2025 Toyota Tacoma i-Force Max Premium. With only 30 miles on it, it's clear that Christmas came early to the Truex home. 

First, imagine getting a new 2025 Tacoma and having the extra money to make upgrades immediately. You don't have to wait two years or even one year. 

You can get new wheels and tires, suspension upgrades, exterior enhancements, and a full wrap. And, this is not your daily driver; it's a toy for the weekends. Must be nice, right? Most of us can only dream, but not this new owner.

Jevon says on the 4th generation Toyota Tacoma Owners Group Facebook post, 

"And so it begins. I picked it up yesterday. It has 30 miles on it, and it's about to be torn apart. New king and Chaos suspension, new bumpers, fender flares, sliders, wheels and tires, roof rack, hood, grille, full wrap, and more."

"I went with a i-Force Max Premium so it was a little spendy, but no point in getting a Pro when I would be ripping off all tires and suspension."

As a new member of the group, Jevon is met with overwhelming support for his choice. 

Jevon doesn't reveal how much he spent on his new toy. However, he does say, 'This is a toy/project.' Not a daily driver. They are excellent stock, too. I enjoyed the 30 miles I put on it.

What wrap did he get?

It's the Addictive Desert Design with a warn EV winch, he answers.

Charlie Are - Jevon's sharing his love for his Taco with us fellas! I love your post, brother! That's why Rob started this group! We share our passion for Tacos and network with other owners—this is an excellent forum to gather information and see what other owners are doing. 

My question is this: Why do some members of this group feel the need to criticize Jevon? I'm guessing the haters are jealous.

The bottom line is that if you don't have anything positive to say, then don't. Jevon, keep posting updates on your build. I look forward to seeing the final results.

Please post a detailed review of the King and Chaos upper control arms to share your experience with both the inside and outside cabin. I'm not sure if I'll go with the Kings too, because I want to see what Fox can do with the 3.0 Fox Factory set, and hopefully jump my truck one more time!

How much can Tacoma owners expect to pay for similar upgrades?

A Reddit user says, Having sold these kinds of builds forever, (on top of building mine) your basement cost for a nice lift w/ aftermarket upper control arms, cab mount chop & wheel/tire combo is about $6K-$8K depending on the set-up, labor included.

Re-gear, you’re probably about another $3K-$4K (labor sucks on them) installed. Bumpers - another $3-4K w/w/labor. There are some really cheap, poorly made/finished bumper options out there, so shop wisely on that front. I’d check into some rock sliders while you’re looking at armor; I probably would recommend getting them before bumpers, since bumpers are much easier to replace than rocker panels.

These amounts are based on the assumption that you’re paying list price for parts & the shop doing the work has a labor rate of around $130-$140 / hour.

Ultra_Taco says I’m $ 30,000 deep in mods for my ‘22 TRD OR Premium ($ 80,000 total), although if I had gotten a cheaper lift and left off the camper shell and rear rack, it’d be around $ 20,000. I haven’t even regeared, done the body mount chop, or switched to 35s (yet). Lights, suspension, wheels, tires, armor, winch… it all adds up fast. 

Conclusion:

I guess that Javon is putting about $15,000 in his new 2025 Toyota Tacoma i-Force Max Premium. Not everyone has the financial ability to spend close to $60,000 and then invest another $15,000 in a toy/ project that's not their daily driver.
