And So It Begins, I Picked up My 2025 Toyota Tacoma Yesterday, It Has 30 Miles On It, and It’s About to Be Torn Apart

A 2025 Toyota Tacoma owner has 30 miles on his pickup, and it's being torn down. Not with engine or transmission problems, he's already making significant upgrades to the truck. What's he doing to change it, and how many owners add mods to their trucks?

How long did it take you to add mods to your Toyota Tacoma pickup? 30 miles in?

Jevon Truex is wasting no time. He just got his hands on a 2025 Toyota Tacoma i-Force Max Premium. With only 30 miles on it, it's clear that Christmas came early to the Truex home.

First, imagine getting a new 2025 Tacoma and having the extra money to make upgrades immediately. You don't have to wait two years or even one year.

You can get new wheels and tires, suspension upgrades, exterior enhancements, and a full wrap. And, this is not your daily driver; it's a toy for the weekends. Must be nice, right? Most of us can only dream, but not this new owner.

Jevon says on the 4th generation Toyota Tacoma Owners Group Facebook post,

"And so it begins. I picked it up yesterday. It has 30 miles on it, and it's about to be torn apart. New king and Chaos suspension, new bumpers, fender flares, sliders, wheels and tires, roof rack, hood, grille, full wrap, and more."

"I went with a i-Force Max Premium so it was a little spendy, but no point in getting a Pro when I would be ripping off all tires and suspension."

As a new member of the group, Jevon is met with overwhelming support for his choice.

Jevon doesn't reveal how much he spent on his new toy. However, he does say, 'This is a toy/project.' Not a daily driver. They are excellent stock, too. I enjoyed the 30 miles I put on it.

What wrap did he get?

It's the Addictive Desert Design with a warn EV winch, he answers.

Sandro Vargas says, "Let me guess, at least $12,000 in there?"

Charlie Are - Jevon's sharing his love for his Taco with us fellas! I love your post, brother! That's why Rob started this group! We share our passion for Tacos and network with other owners—this is an excellent forum to gather information and see what other owners are doing.

My question is this: Why do some members of this group feel the need to criticize Jevon? I'm guessing the haters are jealous.

The bottom line is that if you don't have anything positive to say, then don't. Jevon, keep posting updates on your build. I look forward to seeing the final results.

Diego Burgos - Looks like Christmas came early for you! I'm also going to finish my wrap here soon, so I'll definitely want to see what yours looks like before and after!

Please post a detailed review of the King and Chaos upper control arms to share your experience with both the inside and outside cabin. I'm not sure if I'll go with the Kings too, because I want to see what Fox can do with the 3.0 Fox Factory set, and hopefully jump my truck one more time!

How much can Tacoma owners expect to pay for similar upgrades?

A Reddit user says, Having sold these kinds of builds forever, (on top of building mine) your basement cost for a nice lift w/ aftermarket upper control arms, cab mount chop & wheel/tire combo is about $6K-$8K depending on the set-up, labor included.

Re-gear, you’re probably about another $3K-$4K (labor sucks on them) installed. Bumpers - another $3-4K w/w/labor. There are some really cheap, poorly made/finished bumper options out there, so shop wisely on that front. I’d check into some rock sliders while you’re looking at armor; I probably would recommend getting them before bumpers, since bumpers are much easier to replace than rocker panels.

These amounts are based on the assumption that you’re paying list price for parts & the shop doing the work has a labor rate of around $130-$140 / hour.

Ultra_Taco says I’m $ 30,000 deep in mods for my ‘22 TRD OR Premium ($ 80,000 total), although if I had gotten a cheaper lift and left off the camper shell and rear rack, it’d be around $ 20,000. I haven’t even regeared, done the body mount chop, or switched to 35s (yet). Lights, suspension, wheels, tires, armor, winch… it all adds up fast.

Conclusion:

I guess that Javon is putting about $15,000 in his new 2025 Toyota Tacoma i-Force Max Premium. Not everyone has the financial ability to spend close to $60,000 and then invest another $15,000 in a toy/ project that's not their daily driver.

How about you? What do you think Javon is spending on upgrades?

You'll regret spending the money and will shortly be whining about MPG and performance. You're just building a trailer queen, suspect you've got major insecurities (you know where).

Son, do it as you like!! You picked the best truck on the market to do an upgrade to. I am a Professional Trapper and have had all makes of 4x4 trucks and Toyota is the best. If i had the money I would do what you are doing. Even though it is the best truck what you get from the dealership never exactly what you want.
Go for it my friend!!#!!!!

Be careful you can upgrade on your truck all you want but if you in an accident good luck getting your money's worth from the Insurance company! Check your insurance policy carefully talk to your policy holder see if you can have the extras that were added to your truck will be covered in an accident or if it was total out!

I have a fully built 3rd gen. I won’t be one that would put a turbo charged engine in the dirt environment we tend to be in. I am going for Nissan on my next truck. Don’t trust a turbo dirt sucking air into the motor! Curious to see how the maintenance cost to maintain efficiency in a 4- cylinder turbocharged engine that is used as mine is used - sucking up dirt.

All the new toyotas are junk, not made the way they used to be. I'll stick with my 1989 hilux already setup for off roading.......at a fraction of the price. Mine will still be running long after his is junked because of engine and transmission issues.

Hey man, you do you and support the economy. I love to see people spend and lift that Index and support my appreciating assets. However if you financed a dime of that without tax write offs your an idiot.

If I was flush with more cash than I could burn I would buy dumb shit as well.

Way To Go Javon!
I’m 72 yrs old and really can’t remember all the cars/trucks I’ve built over the years but with each one I’ve had nothing but enjoyment! Keep it up kid!

Another gotcha! moment from Subi lover central;)
Why was the article headline worded to sound like the New Taco had broken down?
Koodos to the lad, good for him he has more money than Allah so haters hate away.

Way too much hostility and bile in the comments they sound like they were written by Incells.

Foolish move. Virtually none of the modification expenses will be recovered during resale.

I would have purchased a base F150 Raptor for roughly the same amount of cash. Owner will be lucky to get 15 mpg after the mods. As a 2024 Tacoma owner ask we how I know😁

Just put new wheels on my truck. Had the tire place do a Road Force Balance, made a 1000% difference in handling.

Only thing I would do first is get through a thousand miles on the motor/transmission. Let it break in, get to the dealer if any issues, then start updating.
Is it my cup of tea? No. But who cares? It's his money.

Glenn McNeish (not verified)    July 27, 2025 - 7:20PM

I waited a little longer years ago with the new car I bought. 742 miles. But I did an extensive makeover. I cut it apart and turned it into a Pro Street car. A lot more than bolt ons.

John (not verified)    July 27, 2025 - 8:06PM

Just look in the background, I'd guess that he can afford this. Most of us would kill for that shop setup on the right, lift an all I imagine. I do my own work too and the labor savings add up to more parts and performance. Hopefully he's thought about gas mileage and such. My FJ40 with the 32s had to have the 1/2 air let out to get into the garage. All I can say enjoy just remember your center of gravity went to the stratosphere.

Derrick (not verified)    July 28, 2025 - 10:16AM

If that makes you happy and you have the means, then why not! Do you! Folks would not bat a eye if we were in a jeep wrangler group, because that is what they do!

The Toyota is a great platform to do the same! I would bet good money that the end game is gonna be beyond awesome!

Man there is a lot of hate on this feed. Just be glad that we live in a country that we are free to make our own decisions. Think positive folks.

It’s his truck he can do what he wants with it, for my personal TRD OR prem. I’m not sure I’d spend the money, always considering resale value
