5 Packages for the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro Detailed

The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro order guide has arrived online, offering us a look at a great many of the features of the 6th gen GM muscle car, but since the order guide can be tough to decipher (especially if you haven’t seen it), we have put together a piece today detailing 5 key packages available as launch of the 2016 Camaro.

The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro will be the highest tech GM muscle car of all time, but making all of the features of the 6th gen Camaro standard would make the base price far too high. To solve that problem, the new Camaro will come with a long list of options – including 5 key preferred equipment packages that we break down in detail today.

Brembo Brake Package
First up, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro in 1LT or 2LT trim can pick between two different performance braking packages while 1SS and 2SS owners get “only” one upgrade package, but this is because the standard brakes on the Camaro SS are similar to the lower level performance package for turbo 4 and V6 Camaro models.

Those 2016 Camaro owners who are opting for the 1LT or 2LT packages with either the 2.0L turbo or 3.6L V6 can add a Brembo 4-piston front brake package similar to what comes on the Camaro SS. This package includes 4-piston front calipers painted bright red, slotted brake rotors and performance brake pads. Those Camaro LT buyers who want an even stronger braking package can opt for the 6-piston package, which adds larger 6-piston bright red Brembo calipers, high performance brake pads and slotted brake rotors.

Also, those 2016 Camaro owners who opt for the LT1-powered SS packages get the 4-piston Brembo package as standard equipment, but they can opt for the same 6-piston package as the Camaro LT buyers.

RS Package
Those 2016 Chevrolet Camaro 1LT and 2LT buyers can add the RS Package (shown above in blue), which gives the exterior of the “base Camaro” a much sportier look. This package begins by adding unique grey painted 20 inch wheels which have a 5-spoke design sporting a machined face. Next, the HID headlights and LED taillights give the 6th gen Camaro a high tech look while the RS specific grille and a deck lid spoiler finish off the package.

Heavy-Duty Cooling and Brake Package
This is another package for the folks buying the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro 1LT or 2LT, as many of these components – or something very similar – is standard on the Camaro SS. This package equips the Camaro with the 3.6L V6 with an external engine oil cooler, a high capacity engine cooling system and the Brembo 4-piston brake upgrade package. Those Camaro LT models with the turbocharged 4-cylinder engine get all of that with this package as well as an auxiliary radiator to further cool the engine coolant.

The Heavy-Duty Cooling and Brake Package is only available with Camaro 1LT and 2LT models that are also equipped with the RS Package.

Convenience and Lighting Package
The Convenience and Lighting Package is only available for the 2016 Camaro 2LT, and it includes a ton of high tech goodies that are sure to impress prospective buyers.

This package includes a driver seat memory package, a wireless device charging system, a heated steering wheel, heads up display, rear park assist, rear cross traffic alert, blind zone alert with lane change assist, power and heated exterior mirrors painted body color, an interior lighting upgrade, lighted door sill plates and bright aluminum trim on the door trim and shifter.

Technology Package
Those folks ordering the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro in the base 1LT form can order the Technology Package, which includes the Chevrolet MyLink touchscreen infotainment system and a Bose 9-speaker sound system.

As you have surely noticed, the vast majority of these packages apply to the non-V8 models, but that is because so many of these features (or something very similar) are standard on the Camaro 1SS and 2SS – all the more reason to just go ahead and buy the LT1-powered Camaro SS.

why no limited slip differential in 6 cyl models with automatic transmission ? all mustang models regardless of transmission get a limited slip at no cost.
