Meet the Amazing 2019 Toyota 4Runner Limited Nightshade

Some 4Runner owners prefer luxury. Others want a sportier look. The 2019 Toyota 4Runner Limited Nightshade Edition offers both. Learn what makes it so special.

For decades the Toyota 4Runner has carried with it a reputation for tough off-roading capabilities, along with high quality and long-term reliability. Now, for the 2019 model year, it introduces a new grade that combines the look of luxury with sportiness and street credibility all wrapped up into one.

Meet the Limited Nightshade Edition.

What makes 4Runner Nightshade a Nightshade?

Just like the Highlander, 4Runner offers a Nightshade Edition for its customers. Toyota made sure to proudly stand its 2019 4Runner Nightshade apart from the rest of its impressive lineup.

In the past, the Limited was the only luxury option for the 4Runner. Customers have come to expect 20-inch alloy wheels, chrome bumper, and chrome badging and accents. Now, we have the Limited Nightshade Edition as a sporty and luxury alternative.

Chrome accents have been replaced with black accents including front and rear bumper spoilers, outer door handles, rocker panels, mirrors, window moldings, garnishes, exhaust tip, and roof rails. Also, chrome badging is replaced with black badging overlays.

Interior styling changes include black interior trim on the steering wheel, shift knob, inner door grips and center console panel.

The other main attraction to the Nightshade Edition is its 20-inch gloss black alloy wheels. These wheels really set the entire vehicle off. Especially on the Blizzard Pearl 4Runner which offers a dramatic contrast between its white body and black wheels.

2019 4Runner Nightshade features

All Toyota 4Runner trucks, from the SR5 all the way to TRD Pro, feature a 4.0-liter V6 engine that produces 270 horsepower @5600 rpm and 278 lb.-ft. torque @4400 rpm. This works in combination with a 5-speed automatic transmission.

Fuel mileage is 17 city / 21 highway / 18 combined for all 4x2 models and 17 city / 20 highway / 18 combined for 4x4 models.

Buyers in the market for a luxury SUV will expect a certain level of features on the Limited and Limited Nightshade 4Runner levels. These grades offer standard smart key push button start, as well as heated and cooled leather seats with 8-way power driver’s seat and 4-way power passenger seat.

Plus, look for Entune Premium Audio with JBL sound system and integrated navigation. For those unfamiliar with JBL audio, you are in for a nice surprise. This specific sound system offers 15 speakers including amplifier and subwoofer, giving all passengers concert-like performance whether you are sitting in the front or the middle or the third row.

Not much has changed since the 5th gen debut in 2010. Save your money and spray paint the Toyota badges and rims yourself.

Note to Toyota: If you want us to be WOWed please bring back the 4.6L V8 and cushier seats in the 4 Runner, and we would be WOWed!

In the meantime your night shade is a mehhhh...

Imagine taking a $47,000 car and spray dipping your wheels, logos and door handles to make it look like a $20,000. Dumbest comment ever. The accents are a black alloy not a matte finish. Also these seats are air conditioned and you want them more cushy? The V8 I can get behind but what? Ha ha people like you make me sigh.
