Ram is Winning Awards for its Revolutionary 2025 Ram 1500 RHO Powertrain

The inline six engine produces great horsepower and torque with improved fuel economy. The RHO version replaces the HEMI V8.

Ram trucks have won so many awards from the Texas Auto Writers Association that winning is almost expected. One award really stands out this year as the writers single out the new Ram  3.0L Hurricane High Output Straight-Six Turbo for its “Best Powertrain” award. As I have recently reported, the 2025 Ram 1500 RHO was named to the Car and Driver’s 10Best List, the Ward’s Automotive 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems and the truck was named the MotorTrend Truck of the Year.

“Ram trucks delivered outstanding performance once again this year, securing multiple consecutive awards, including the Full-Size Pickup Truck of Texas,” Cory Fourniquet, TAWA president, said. “This achievement is particularly noteworthy as Texas is known as the truck capital of the U.S.”

2025 Ram 1500 RHO

The all-new 3.0-liter Hurricane engine is rated at 420 horsepower and 469 lb.-ft. of torque, while the High Output engine is rated at 540 horsepower and 521 lb.-ft. of torque. The RHO will do 0-60 mph in 4.6 seconds. It will also do 0-100 mph in 11.7 seconds. It has a top speed of 118 mph. The RHO starts at $69,995, plus a $1,995 destination charge.  Capability includes a maximum towing capacity of 11,580 pounds and a maximum payload of 2,300 pounds. According to Ram, the new engines, members of the Stellantis Hurricane Twin-turbo family are the most powerful six cylinders in the segment. The inline six turbo-charged engines deliver enhanced fuel economy and fewer emissions while generating more horsepower and torque than other naturally aspirated V-8 and boosted six-cylinder engines in the light-duty segment.

Other 2025 Ram Texas Auto Writer Awards

In all, the Ram brand took home four different awards at the annual Texas Truck Rodeo competition. The auto writers cast their votes after a full day of on- and off-road vehicle evaluations, including 262 drives on the event route. The writers evaluate the vehicles based on exterior/interior styling and off-road capability to the entrant’s overall utility, value and performance. The Texas Auto Writers Association has grown to become one of the most recognized and reputable automotive media organizations in the industry.
